Thanks Bart...Just a bit of a laugh to me really..The 'kids' are entitled to their opinions just as I am to mine.
If everyone agreed, it would be a boring old world. And I would have about 50 posts instead of over 8,000.
I must admit the forum keeps me amused. I love seeing people passionate about the teams and the footy - and their favourite players..
The Lord knows that I have been really passionate about it during my time following Parra. I can even remember a work place punch up...over 40 years ago with a fellow Parramatta supporter with whom I clashed over opinions on a player. When I think back I laugh at how seriously, I and we, took the game. So I am certainly not going to get upset with people who have a differing of opinion to mine.

I think they should change the saying to " we use the brain until it comes to Pete... because the fist is the only way to shut hum up"??

Now i'm not serious but to the topic
I havn't watched the game but i will as soon as it is avaliable on the net (probably more than one tbh) although i did listen to it on the radio!

I watched the city country game and noticed that finchy played well, and behold it was with a attacking half partner, who also knew how to structure an attacking line up. I got the feeling that we came good relay with Keating in at 5-8.

I saw the ball that Wagon got from Matty K and what a ball it was (and they say Mitchell is better!! i cant wait), but I got the feeling Keating was busy and added alot of structure to our attacking game. So i would be happy to kept Finch relay for a season if K. Keating is at 5-8 and bring Mortimore or Hodkinson through into first, but he isn't a long term solution.

This is my bold prediction, that we can win and will win the comp with finchy and keating in the halves. Im excited about Inu return soon, and i think Burt is on the improve, he seemed to get his kicking game on target a little more. I think he needs to get more involved there because we did lose Timmy who was much more attacking.

Matty and Kris both have very good kicking games and need to relay get involved. Kris kicking game is better than Finches, and Finch shouldn't hold him back. I think they should share it around (even Mateos Kicking game has improved).

We still have potentially the most attacking backline in the comp, and a strong forward pack. I think this is the kickstart our season needs.

We are also on 8 points with the leading team on 12, so we are not far off tbh.

Do you mean "off course you did" hammer him - or "of course you did " feel bad about it...????
Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it..

He looked indecisive at times on the last tackle, a bit disappointing but overall considering such a big game yesterday the fact he backed up and still gave it his all is impressive. We've no better options at half, there's a lack of them overall at NRL level. I'd rather stick re-sign him due to his experience and leadership.

Ah, passions run wild sometimes... the misplaced energy of youth!

I do think at different times in our lives some of us here can take the opinions of others a little too seriously, instead of letting different ones live side by side, or change with the course of time, or come back to bite us, and having a laugh all the same.

Difference of opinion is good, but getting personal about fellow supporters/other posters because of it is a bad look imo.

They sure do... there was almost some punch ups tonight amoungst fans

Altho I must say though that perhaps Pete if you stopped on about 'Tim' and 'golden child' that perhaps your comments may be a little better received? I don't mean to be rude or anything but it seems every week I read a very similar set of comments from you and they frequesntly stating the same thing over and over - we get it....

Actually, in my reading of all these type of threads, it's actually the opposite.

PP states his opinion on the matters, and also says that part of life is people being able to have different opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs.

It seems to me that it's people like RJ who for some reason don't want to allow people to have opinions that are different from their own, choose to always pick up on PP's opinions and can't let them go.. :x

And thats it he states his opinion and when someone questions that said opinion he doesnt come back with anything but some stupid statement about people not letting him have an opinion he doesnt discuss the differences or anything...

the main problem is the lack of quality halves in the game these days, let alone on the open market. i agree that Finch is not worth the $$$ that is being suggested we will be paying him, but we have little options. yeah, we have talent coming through, but they are young and need time to develop. in the mean time we need someone to step into the breach that has been left by Smith leaving.

major question marks would have to be placed on Barrett after 2 years in ESL (look what t did to Lyon) and his $$$ is ridiculous. Head has major injury worries over him, Soward has not stamped his class on 2 clubs now.

who else is out there that are viable options??

Yeah we do. Don't sign him. ;-)

I think it's got a lot more history than just this thread, and the people responding to the opinions presented have to have just as hard a look at themselves and how personal they make the discussions in the first place...

Group mentality at it's finest, just in this case the majority opinion on the issue was not correct, and some people like to gang up on the minority opinion because it's easier to harm the messenger than look inside oneself. PP's only giving back what is (and was) directed his way, but in doing so seems more of a target than the people whose habit is to continue to shoot arrows? Just my opinion ;-).

Bottom line is Finchy is our number 7 this season, and probably for one or two more while the next crop of younger ones come through. I think he'll make a better colleague/influence for them then Riddell seemed to be for Tim Smith anyways, and hopefully the next young halves can have a more successful shot at grade than Tim's.
