Was the scissor incident the catalyst for the last 6 years of pain?

Think about it?

PG loses the plot and gets the arse.
Barry Steps in.
Langy leaves
Mat Rogers leaves
Ando arrives
Jarrod arrives
Noddy arrives
Peach loses captaincy
Our free flowing backline leaves
Preston leaves
new game plan proves fatal ..for us
Ando gets sacked
Raper arrives
nothing changes
Peach leaves
Sludge leaves
Barry still here.

I wonder ( hindsight is a wonderful thing ) if Peter Gow hadn't cut up that blokes jumper , could things be different?

I don't think Gow can be blamed for Sludge leaving

Gow is a great man, and snip night was his finest moment

IMO it's the St George fan's fault for crying to the papers about it

Oh ..that looks bad on my part ...didn't mean it in that way what so ever.

Just mentioning the painful chain of events ever since that day.

Can someone please tell me exactly why Matty Rogers left the club?
I am under the impression he wanted a crack at 5/8th and Lang didn't think he was up to it?

There was that, and the ARU offering him three times more coin than we could...

He hasn't been on the paddock much since he switched. I wonder how his durability would have been had he stayed in NRL. Not too good I would think.

I thought he was too small to play 5/8 then but f**k what I'd give for him to be there now.

He'd look good in the stands next to Nigel .:D

He is one of the most talented footy players in the country. I would have loved him to stay.

Injuries are a massive problem for him.

Yeah, I heard that too, but I do the main reason was the $$, we just couldn't pay him what the ARU could...

Dragon SlayerWe've never replaced him.

Our greatest loss!

Yep, I agree. Him leaving was the start of our demise, as far as players go any ways...

True on both counts.

He DID want a crack closer to the action, and I'll be buggered if Lang/Anderson et al couldn't see the potential for him at 5/8...Have a look at his genetics, FFS.

But as a business decision, setting himself and his family up for the rest of their lives...He went the right way and took the cash.

absolutely, completely & utterly to do with cash & income earning capacity.
Nothing to do with field position.
In fact, next on the table would be longevity/injuries. he would have a hard time hacking 26 rnds of league, year in & year out.
