Ben Hornby clearly stated that Latrell was takeing the rest of the year off before he put his grubby nose in a pile white powder. How on earth is it ok for him to do his suspension this year based on them facts.
Since when do you have to be fit to serve a suspension? This is an NRL first here. I'm glad the club is treating it with the contempt it deserves.

Souths treating the rest of the competition with the same contempt that the rest of the competition holds for Souths?

Suspensions for off field stuff are a different beast.

Stupid ruling from the NRL dealt with appropriately by Souths.

In this case Souths don't need to be dodgy though. Latrell is actually fit to play, they'd just rather not use him in matches that are meaningless. The only risk is a long-term injury and a missed pre-season.

They should knock back the request to let him serve his suspension this week and let him play and if he doesn't play suspend him for longer for being dishonest and fine soufffs for takeing the piss

Exactly why he should not be allowed to serve his suspension this week

If we were in the Knights or Dolphins shoes you can bet your life Latrell plays, as would Campbell Graham and a couple of others. As it is, this season is a write-off and there is no point in risking anything. It's why we sent Jai Arrow off for surgery early etc.

Just to clarify your position.

You want him to serve his ban next year because this week's game is meaningless? Ala 'Taylan May' what the fans want?

We could do this gladiator style with PVL as the emperor. Thumbs down for Latrell.

No issue with Souths here because they aren't doing anything wrong. It's not even a loophole, they are just following mandate set by the NRL.
