Jesus PENRITH fans. Not everything is an opportunity to shit on Latrell. Souths are doing the right thing here for all the clubs trying to stand up to the NRL and its ridiculous decision.

We understand that PENRITH is the only club that's allowed to have it's players serve a suspension when it suits the fans but the rest of us want to see this stupid ruling given the contempt it deserves.

.

Souffs are a joke. No wonder fatboy does whatever he likes when he feels like it.

At least he's screwed the club the last couple of years. What's strange is they're happy about it.

It's ridiculous to declare a player fit who the coach says was out for the season, didn't train (even when other suspended and injured players were there) and so on. Got it.

Besides the stupid moving of the goalposts by the NRL... Willie Mason, of all people, made a real good point too.

By Souths pushing it for him to serve the suspension now, the whole thing gets nipped in the bud and it's done with.

By extending it into next year, we open the 2025 season with more talk of Latrell being suspended, the white powder incident, is he fit, re-hashing it all again, blah blah.

It's like the NRL want to drag out the drama as long as possible.

I'm glad the club isn't rolling over on this one.
Firstly, the NRL love controversy and rehashing. So if that gets them on the front page of the paper come March next year, they'll love it. Look at the Bunker/ref BS all year - they eat it up. It's extra publicity. This is not a downside for them.

I realise it's inconsistency (like everything the NRL does) but as a standalone issue, everything the NRL has seen suggests Latrell is not fit to play, and likely wouldn't have played in a meaningless round 27 game - although I admit the last bit is guesswork. If the suspension is allowed to be applied this week, it's a meaningless ban. Souths win.

And of course, only the name attached to this situation makes it more news-worthy than Jaemon Salmon serving his two-game ban for smashing Te Maire Martin, while eating through a straw. So not only did the Dogs not get penalised and lose that game through a clear high and late shot, Salmon never served his ban, either, with his broken jaw.
