Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

I am interested in the views of the raiders' supporters as to what they consider to be a pass mark for Sticky this season? Also, what is a clear fail and if that occurs will he come under any pressure or is he safe for at least this season (and maybe next given the extension to his contract)??
Finals appearence is a minimum. It's his third year and he has built a good squad, one that should make the 8, especially with our draw. So it's on him if these sad performances continue.

Yeah he has recruited wonderfully now he has to make the 8. Unless these injuries keep happening there isn't really any excuse for them. He just has to fix that defence which is something he has always struggled with.

Problem with Ricky is that he polarises players, assistant coaches and management. That is why he has been sacked or pushed out of every club he has been associated with. To make matters worse he can't be told because he knows best, which is f**k all.

Well that's the thing. Defence isnt something he's always struggled with
In fact his roosters and sharks teams were pretty much ALWAYS strong defensive teams, even in years they struggled. Defence is what he's made his bones on as a coach.

He pioneered this defensive system where he got numbers into tackles, peeled off slowly and dominated the ruck that way. It helped him win a comp with the roosters and maintain some good results after with the Roosters and Sharks (before it all feel apart)... but the game moved to this wrestle era under Bellemy, and the rules changed a bit to stop these 3rd and 4th men coming in as flops to slow the ruck and Stuart hasnt been able to adjust his style to the new age rules

They need sezer and Austin on the field more and they will definitely be a top 8 team. Unless they succumb to the Ricky 'polish'

No I didn't know, I've never seen his salary reported. Nor have I seen the other 15 coaches salaries so I'm not sure where he ranks in that department.

Taking his last salary at Parramatta was 850k a season, there is no doubt the media are close bang on the money that his Canberra deal is close to a mill a season.

bj, fpn ?

FPN shouldnt be in the team, we've got 2 really good front rowrs, 3 next year. Lima, Barnett, Sia etc can all handle it short term

As for BJ, same old with him. As said, the tools are there, the coach has got to get him playing in the right way to take advantage of his physical tools

Granted that's a tall order, and better coaches than Stuart have failed with him. But Stuart signed him so he must think he can get him on the right path

Bj is the dumbest human alive but while he's putting in I can deal with his errors. He is about the only bloke who looks like he can trouble other teams defenses ATM.

Franky is just shit.

BJ was known as flipper-hands when he was at our club..

Ricky was exposed as a poor coach the day Brad Fittler retired..

IMO he won a comp because of Freddy.

He's a Hagan type coach, only with a bit better recruitment. Won a comp quickly on the back of a superstar roster but has been found out at every club since.
