Was thinking this when he started ranting about how the world famous "play well for 10 minutes" strategy was robbed by refs.

Under the benefit of the doubt rule the Papalii no try would have been awarded.

With the current rule that requires the referees to at times make a guess and the video referee being unable to overturn without "conclusive" evidence it's whatever guess the refs come up with at the time.
There's no evidence showing the ball grounded. It would have been tragic if they awarded a try because he 'may' have grounded it at some point despite all angles showing a terrific defensive effort to hold him up

To be honest, under the old system I would not have been surprised if it just came back refs call, not benefit of the doubt.

Found it touching how Ricky felt sorry for the poor refs and the corner the media had pushed them into even though he has a 10 year career of bullying the refs.
