Sticky is killing it and I feel the same emptiness as when Souffs won the premiership and it killed the LOL@50uffs thread

Ricky lives and breathes Rugby League, why people dislike him I do not understand. I think he great. Full Stop period. When you have played and coached and done your best, put your life into it, Then post here.

Stuart is a perfect example of the coach not mattering as much as we think they do - his stint at Parra and his team's success this year are testament to this.

I understand the hatred to a certain point. I couldn't stand the way he carried himself at the roosters. But he has clearly learnt about what's more important in life and seems like a genuinely good guy nowadays (not just because he's at the raiders - although it obviously helps!).

What he does off the field should not be glossed over, plus he doesn't whinge anywhere near as much.

Well I also have to give kudos where they are due. I really did not think that Sticky had it in him and I was starting to think he was a bit of a myth as a coach. But credit to him, he has assembled a really good squad in a relatively short period of time, got rid of the players that needed to be gone or to have a new environment. Plus he has the raiders playing a really entertaining style of football. If they keep playing they way they are at the moment they are every chance this year.

He has always reminded me a little bit of Brian Smith. Obviously he can coach, but just way too intense and he seems to burn the players out. He does seem a bit more relaxed at Canberra so hopefully history will not repeat.

Right, so when his teams go bad he's a shit coach but when they go well it shows coaching is unnecessary? That'll be why Hasler, Bennett and Bellamy, or disciples thereof (minus Robinson) have won all the premierships for the last 10 years?

I'll happily eat my humble pie. Sticky has delivered the goods this year and clearly mellowed out back in his spiritual home. Good recruiting, well coached team who play with energy and heart. They're basically what my club could be with a decent coach.

I didn't say he was a shit coach.

had to laugh a week ago when he said this current success was all part of the plan. what a knob. not about you. players like junior paulo fell into his lap. what he has done well though is get leilua and rapana to randomly come infield together and wreak havoc.

One of the worst coaches when he has a crap team as he doesn't handle losses well and comes up with excuse after excuse often bagging the players but the passion he displays is never in doubt and now lucky for him the Raiders have a excellent roster.

Haha yeah he sure got lucky.

When he arrived after the worst season ever (2013) this was the side he had available to him

Milford (had already signed with brisbane by this stage), Robinson, croker, allwood , lee, wighton, campese, tilse, buttriss, white, papalii, edwards, fensom

Bench: mccrone, kennedy, Vaughan, boyd

That team is f**king shit.

Personally I think it’s the free reign and control that he gets at the Raiders that has allowed him to build a successful side. Seemed to get a bit of interference from the administration at his other gigs.
