Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

How long did Ricky sign for with the raiders, its not 7 years for 7 million is it? it couldnt be.

Every single raiders players game has gone backwards under him, same as at parra, theres no game plan, the players are losing all confidence under him, he will leave the raiders in a huge hole.

No they dodged the 7year plan but man it'd be funny to see them after 7 years of Stuarts command .

Fensom would have just finished his last surgery to become a woman , Papaliis first child named Blanket has been born and Cornish is still waiting to get a run .

The Faiders fans seem to be in hiding

There isnt even that many raiders fans on LU. I've only just this arvo flown back in from Fiji. Im not sure how any of this constitutes hiding. Check out the Greenhouse, not a lot of hiding going on there

According to ABC 13 wins from the last 60 games.

At least Stuart goes to mediocre teams.

He could be like Bennett and only coach top 4 teams.

3 years is his deal with the Raiders. A fairly unpleasant dilemma for them.

I do wonder what happened to him. Was he once a good coach but hasn't kept up with modern trends? Or was he never a good coach, just appeared that way because of the team and structure he inherited at the roosters?

You mean like Saints, the team that ran 8th in 2008, the year before Bennett joined?
Or did you mean like the Knights, who ran 8th in 2011, the year before Bennett joined?

Saints always had a strong team. That they were so inconsistent says more about their previous coach.

Knights was more about the money. He doesn't have the cattle at the Knights so he can't repeat his previous success.

Or The Raiders who were 3rd last the year before WB arrived , or the Broncos who didn't exist the year before . So actually WB has never ever signed with a top 4 side .

I could coach that Raiders team and some of those later Broncos ones to premierships.

He had most of the SOO and test teams in both teams.

Hand on heart there would be very few who considered the Saints squad of 2009 a top four squad at the start of the season. That would include many Saints' fans, myself amongst them.
Bennett did an outstanding job with that crew. In my opinion it was his greatest achievement in terms of managing a 'team'.
We lacked a top level backline. So much so that we had Scott playing centre. Bennett moulded success against the odds for mine.
The place was in good shape, sure. Hardly a basket case. But it demeans his efforts to make the statement you did regarding only coaching a top four team.
Throw in Newy, and the statement is way off the mark.
He has been prepared to challenge himself in the latter stages of his career.
My theory, he had something to prove to himself and his detractors, and he did so.

Well McFadden isn't signed up for next year yet...

And he's done some pretty good work with the Warriors side he's taken over. Especially defensively.

He certainly has Raiders in his blood...

Raiders got Belcher and Meninga from Bennett's BRL team. It was also his first NSWRL post and no doubt he knew the Broncs were coming.

A good call even for a saints fan.
Let's not forget the nz world cup contribution.

Mate I was doubter when he came. SoO level squads, one city team, supportive environment, Thoroughbreds, all that.
Within the first few playing weeks of 2009 you could see the change in the demeanour of the team. There wasa steel and discipline that had been lacking for years. He turned me around in a short space of time and achieved an incredible outcome.
I don't think any other modern coach could do what he did with that particular side.

Bullshit.

Half of this forum had Dragons missing the 8 in 2009.
