They're just cold hard facts.

Canberra are staring at a 10th-place finish for the third time in Ricky Stuart's tenure at the NRL club and the coach believes injuries have been a major factor.

The Raiders could add to their ladder results from the 2015 and 2017 seasons, bundled in with a memorable run to the 2016 preliminary final.

"Josh is as important to us as Cameron Smith is to Melbourne and we've had 14 weeks of putting up with that (Hodgson missing) and we did a wonderful job to hang in," Stuart said.

"Losing our fullback, which is no fault of anybody but ours and Jack's, is crucial and again, that's your Billy Slater to your Melbourne. That's why they're hanging around the top four and we're hanging around 10th.

"They've been two massive, massive blows to us.

"I stress it's not a coach having a whinge, it's not a coach trying to make up excuses because that's not in my DNA. I'm just telling you cold, hard facts."

The Raiders are leading the competition for points with 509, ahead of premiership contenders South Sydney (501) and Melbourne (490).

If Canberra keeps their attacking record ahead of those teams they will become the first team to top the point-scoring list and still miss the finals.

Since a final-four system was permanently introduced for the 1926 season - previously there were years with only a final or no playoffs at all - every team with the best attacking record has made the finals.

Josh Hodgson is the third best hooker in the NRL, behind Cameron Smith and Damien Clark. Not having him for more than half the regular season was crucial for Canberra's resullts.

Yet we still made the grand final without him.

Haha, honestly Ricky is now a parody of himself. I could fill in for him in press conferences and give word for word what he'd provide himself - ie hurting in sheds, no excuses but *insert x-y-z (refs, injuries, weather, whichever works), not first grade standard effort, need more Origin players, didn't execute game plan etc.

Blown away that the Faiders have the best points for in the comp. Too bad defensive weapon Wighton isn't there huh, and his equally stone wall-ish friend Josh H. Otherwise it'd be different. Top 4, for sure.

Also remembering that they're missing Mullins, Daley, Nadruku, Nagas and other unavailable talent. Done well to be where they are, really.

The gift that keeps giving will continue whilst Stck has his best mate Creepy Crawley spooning his cum off the floor at every presser, swallowing it whole and screaming "more please sir"....

Who do we see to sign this 2nd best hooker in the comp, Damien Clark? We could use him in the semi's with Wal retiring.I don't know much about him, but if he is rated just behind Smith, he must be pretty mustard.
