I stopped reading at the point where Fensom was complaining about being penalised for not standing square at marker.

He made no attempt to get behind the first marker and you could clearly hear the referee call out "not square".

Yes but despite raiders inconsistency in the past they were still an entertaining team to watch at times. Ricky has coached it out of them in the space of 1 off season! That's the point

I've found them more entertaining this year .

I didn't see most of the game, but it drives me nuts when someone based their assessment on the neutrality of the referees purely based on the penalty count. Many, many games have been dictated by terrible decisions at key times that are not in any way reflected by the penalty count.

Just to be perfectly clear - I can't comment on this game in particular, but just pointing out that a penalty count doesn't tell you anything about the bias of a referee when viewed as a stand alone statistic.

The coach, the players, the club and the fans all need to STFU about officials for a little while and start worrying about the state of the squad.

Yes he is the most overrated but he has never had anyone take him to task because he has too many mates in the media. it is a joke he is still coaching first grade. He is never to blame. It is always someone else's doing when his side has a loss.

If we get the rough end of the stick it's because we're full of indisciplined morons led by Campese who constantly treats referees with disrespect.

I'd suggest that teams at the bottom end of the ladder are always going to be penalised more. Not because of some conspiracy but because they would be defending more. As most penalties are given against the defending side it stands to reason if you defend more your penalty count will be higher.

And we defend more because the likes of Tilse and McCrone drop the ball every second tackle.

It's not about penalties, they are almost completely and utterly meaningless. They go in runs and most referees try and even the counts towards the end of the games if they can.
I couldn't give a f**k about penalty counts.

My major gripe is video referees.

But that's completely beside the point and has nothing to do with anything here in 2014, nothing done by the referees is having any impact on our 2014 campaign. I'll start worrying about things like that when we are actually a respectable, FG standard football team.

Until then, we need to look after our own backyard
