Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

Top 2 with no byes and the most wins this season. If that doesn't scream 'top 2 but I ain't 2' nothing does.

Not to mention the comparison between the bunker decision on Starling no try ruled held the other week and tupou lying prone on the ground while a second raider touches him (slides over the top but touches him nonetheless)- ruled try. In short- we flogged the merkins.

I hadn't even thought of that.

I mean the Topou try was very clearly a try and i wouldnt want them ruling that a no try just to stick in line with the other idiotic decision

But it is confirmation that the Starling try should have been awarded. And simply having a hand on a player is not considered effecting a tackle. But we already knew that.

You'd have to think that the Raiders will finish minor premiers with the draw they have to end the season. The real test will be have they had enough hard games to battle harden them for the finals.

The run home is: Dragons, Sea Eagles, bye, Panthers, Tigers and Dolphins.

How many of those will be in finals contention to give them a good game to prepare properly for the big games.

Compared to Bulldogs: Warriors, Roosters, Storm, Panthers, Sharks
Storm : Broncos, Panthers, Bulldogs, Roosters, Broncos

Warriors and Sharks also have pretty soft run homes as well.

The real test will be which team cops the Storm in the first week of the finals if they finish top 4.

I wouldn’t be worried by the Storm. Too many journeymen playing like journeymen. Unless Hughes turns in a near MOTM performance every week in the finals they’ll struggle . There’s a reason they rushed Hughes back from his broken hand.

Munster and Grant on the wane. Stefano hasn’t made much difference. Not as good in the grind this year. Uncharacteristic lack of discipline is a result of their frustration.

Joe Tapine on Face to Face tonight at 7:30pm on Foxsports. Talks of his struggles in Newcastle in 2014. Wonder how close he was to joining the Roosters a few years back?

Ideally maybe you'd throw one game vs a top 4 team in there but we've had plenty of those already. Potentially Phins, Manly and 'Riff (if their current improvement holds) will be in the top 8 hunt and up for it. Or any two of those 3 will be.

At present I'd give any of the current top 4 a shout of beating any of the others on a given day, if they play to their best. With a gap to the rest who might be the top 4 sometimes if a top 4 team is a bit off. A lot can change in the back half of the season though.

Yep it only takes one or two injuries to change a team. I will never forget Ricky Stuart getting injured at the end of the 1993 season. At that point no one was going to beat them for the title. But take out Ricky that late, the team didn't have a chance to adjust to him missing.

No Raider fan will ever forget it. We led Parra by about 50 and Sheens told Rick to come off. Rick told Sheens to F off... Murphy's Law then applied itself.
