Is rivalry round legit for your team?

Souffs and that's it. Roosters v Dogs was born out of the scummy Dogs fans & club being angry at us for their cheating and Justin Hodges going wild with a phone. The rivalry died when both teams became shit until we signed Mason and died after that game until most likely we get SBW then for 2 games it'll be a hit. It's a big game if both teams go well but it doesn't do it like the Souffs game does.

Roosters v Souffs is the genuine rivalry
Roosters v Stains sits in between. Anzac day has made this game a little different. They could probably be classed as a rival.
Roosters v Dogs & Broncos are the other big games that people look forward to, probably hate the clubs but there isn't much behind it to build it up as a rivalry.

In the NRL there's maybe 4 or 5 genuine rivalries.

Typical rooster wankerism, not appreciating or noticing anything that doesn't involve the Sydney Roosters.

There are more than 5-6 rivalries, you c**k.

Lol yeah tell me about these massive rivalries that I've missed

Roosters v Souffs
Dogs v Eels
Eels v Manly
Sharks v Merge

I can't wait to hear about the bitter feud of 3 seasons between Melbourne and Warriors

Go back to production avenue

Broncos and Warriors have a pretty good rivalry, at least to Warriors fans. They were the first team we played, and typically (last year's semi excluded) we up our game against them. The only other team i can think we would have a rivalry with is the Storm, but that's only recent.

Broncos have a great rivalry with the Warriors. Plenty of great matches and we were the club to welcome them into the competition.

We have Heritage Round to celebrate previous Grand Finals or other milestones. A rivalry round should be matching clubs that are rivals but not necessarily have played in a big one together.

As a Saints supporter there are clearly different levels of hate towards opposition fans. My take;

Tier 1
Cronulla - Little brother will always occupy no. 1. Still haven't won a title.
Storm - Piece of shit, cheating club stole a title off of us

Tier 2
Brisbane
Canterbury
Souffs
Eels
Rorters

Tier 3
Rest. Don't care.

Wouldn't be classifying Tigers as our rivals as OP does. But if we weren't to play Easts or Saints as we are this year then a game against Manly would work given we've hated them since the 70s. We've had a few fiery games with the Dogs lately so that too may work as a rivalry.

So in summary (in order of dislike/repulsion): Easts, Manly, St. Merge, Dogs.

Great concept I guess, but I dunno how Wests v Penrith, Brisbane v NZ, NQ v Melbourne of Titans v Canberra are rivals. I reckon the scheduling can be done better. It seems that planning rivalry round starts with some bean counter thinking "What are the biggest rivalries?" and working from there. Guarantee that Saints v Cronulla, Easts v Souths and Parra v Dogs are pencilled in, and everything sorted out from there.

Trouble is the older clubs usually have a few strong rivals, where the newer clubs dont. Who are the Titans rivals if it aint Brisbane? Sometimes also rivalries are not shared between two clubs equally. I reckon Penrith's biggest rivalry is Parra, but not vice versa.

I think Rivalry Round should be organised by accommodating those clubs with a narrow rivalry list first. With that in mind, what are the biggest rivalries for your club? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I see it:

BRISBANE: NQ, Titans, Dragons

CANBERRA: Penrith, Tigers

CANTERBURY: Parra, Roosters, Dragons

CRONULLA: Dragons, Manly

GOLD COAST: Brisbane

MANLY: Parra, Newcastle, Melbourne

MELBOURNE: Warriors, Dragons, Manly

NEW ZEALAND: Melbourne, Easts, Manly

NEWCASTLE: Manly, Brisbane

NORTH QUEENSLAND: Brisbane, Wests

PARRA: Canterbury, Manly, Wests

PENRITH: Parra, Easts, Canberra

SOUTHS: Tigers, Roosters, Dragons

ST G I: Cronulla, Brisbane, Easts, Canterbury

SYDNEY: Souths, Saints, Canterbury

WESTS: Souths, Parra.

So would a better Rivalry Round been:

Titans v Brisbane (Skilled Pk/Suncorp)
Cowboys v Tigers (Dairy Farmers)
Raiders v Penrith (Canberra)
Melbourne v Warriors (AAMI)
Cronulla v Saints (Endeavour/Kogarah)
Newcastle v Manly (Hunter)
Parra v Wests (Parra/Leichhardt
Souths v Easts (ANZ/SFS)

I hear you loudy. You need to get to grips with rugby league. Pennies are a 67 loser
club and have no rivals. Wests? (who are they? ), died back in 99, get with the program.

Parra and the Panthers? Eeek. Hope it doesn't happen, but both are on a serious downturn,
will they survive in their own right?

What happened to the Brisbane Newcastle rivalry? I thought it started due to the 2 gf's of 97... Has it perished with Joey's retirement?

Manly and the Broncos are the big ones. Both scum clubs.

Other than that we have a bit of a thing going with the Steelers, but it probably means nothing to them nowadays.

I thought Loudy had conducted himself really well in this thread. He admitted his ignorance of specific club rivalries and asked for assistance, you're merely telling him he needs what he has already asked for. You Mr Tiger, are a muppet.

Anyways,

Manly and Melbourne are clearly in the process of generating a modern rivalry, stronger than Warriors v Melbourne.

The 40-0 banners still fly, the fight last year, twitter...

Seems odd in a way, given Norths aligning with Souths, and Cameron Smith not living in a fibros house...

Definately warriors rival has to be Melbourne. Seeing as we play them for a cup, and we're pretty even in the games won each department. Also Im sure they hate us for putting them out in the finals a couple times lol.

Fess up; Gonzo, Animal, Kermit, Miss piggy. You love the muppets, nail your colours to the
mast. My point was Loudy insists upon calling West Tigers, Wests, whilst the emblem is
now what represents the club (by the powers that be).

Just calling the dude deluded. Nothing more, nothing less, and giving him an honest warning
regarding the future of his club.

Oh Tiger, you so crazy.
On modern day rivalries, I dunno if it creates a rivalry but the Tigers and Dragons have had some epic clashes since the '05 semi.
They almost always put on a good show.

The Tigers and the Dragons are two merged clubs. I agree there have been some great
clashes over the last 7-8 years, but the rivalry goes back a 100 years.

The Titans go back in one way or another back to 88. Their problem is they haven't been
good enough to have a rivalry with anyone. Up until recently that appeared to be changing.
