Plenty of people, we used to call it the "Friday stitch up" when whatever job you were doing needed to be finished for the weekend and everyone got flogged on Friday afternoon
On the contrary I know far more people who get POETS

A few weeks yet, but potentially the biggest match of the season up to Rd 10 between St George Illawarra vs Cronulla, is scheduled for Friday 6pm. It's also in Wollongong. Great for pubs and Fox subscribers I suppose.

Well done NRL.

The idea is fine (once daylight saving is over) from a TV perspective, which is the significant majority. The painful thing is that when you're watching it at the pub and the token Victorian or Pom keeps chimes in about how shit the crowds are.

I don't think it will be a problem as far as Canberra supporters go this week but severely limits the attendance of away supporters........not that Manly fans travel anyway.

You know "University of Wollongong" is the sponsor of Jubilee Oval, Kogarah, yeah?

The game is at Kogarah.

nah. it's all still endeavour, kogarah, SFS, Brookvale, penrith, lang park etc to me.

venue is a good outcome, time is shithouse. should be fun driving around carlton, kogarah and the rest of the St george district, outbound from the city and between the shire and district in the friday arvo peak.

i got a little excited when looking for the friday night match this week and 'realised' it was Canberra vs Manly and something different to the Rabbitohs & Broncos FTA monopoly.......then actually realised the friday late game was Souths vs Brisbane.

"venue is a good outcome"?

It was always Kogarah.

It's actually a sensible decision by the NRL, although I'd bet lefty they've fluked this completely rather than pre-planning the smartest matchup for this timeslot.

The only people who would turn up to Canberra and support Manly (irrespective of the time) will be their fans who live in Canberra anyway.

I'm loving the 6pm timeframe.

I can now take the kids to the football and be home by 9pm. The Thursday , Friday and Saturday night games I get home at past 11pm.

How do you get to the u20s with the kids ?

U20s start at 3:45 when kids get home around 3pm

And for me it takes about 1.5 h to get to the game

Other than me taking the day off work and taking the kids out of school it becomes impossible

If you pick other, please give details. I'll hold my opinion off. I think by starting this it is probably obvious though.
