He’s doing well but there’s a long way to go for a long term successful NRL career.
His contract should reflect his current status as a good level half, maybe for two years, with re-evaluation after that if he kicks on.
But nowadays someone will throw a 5 year international level contract at someone on potential alone. It’s risky business and it has the potential to completely f**k your cap for years. I think it’s safer to take a cautious approach and miss out, rather than over-committing to a player that fails to kick on.
