BLAKE AYSHFORD RE-SIGNS FOR TWO MORE YEARS
Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Wests Tigers have today re-signed exciting young centre Blake Ayshford for a further two years.
Ayshford has played three NRL matches this season after scoring a try in his first grade debut against Brisbane Broncos at Campbelltown Stadium in round 11.
The 21-year-old was promoted to the full-time Wests Tigers NRL squad after some outstanding performances last season for the club in the inaugural Toyota Cup competition. He can play centre, lock and five-eighth.
Ayshford received the Wests Tigers Players Player award for the Toyota Cup competition in 2008.
The new deal will keep Ayshford at Wests Tigers until the end of the 2011 season.
We are very excited to be able to re-sign such a talented utility player in Blake Ayshford, said Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Warren McDonnell.
Blake hasnt been able to have a full off-season over the past two seasons due to injuries but once he gets that under his belt, he will be a much bigger and stronger player.
Ayshford said the new contract caps off an exciting season for him to date.
There are a number of good young players coming through the club and I am excited to be apart of that over the next two years, Ayshford said.
I know playing under such an experienced coach in Tim Sheens will only make me a better player. There are plenty of good times ahead for Wests Tigers.
