It's too expensive to release Smith.

I've been a big supporter of Smith but he lost me when I read in Friday's tele Brian was talking about the players gone and said something like

we had an option on a player but got a call from his manager saying he had gotten an offer from another club that offer was $250,000 whereas our option was for $130,000, what do you do stand in his way?

Now if the reports on J.Cayless' offer from the Roosters is true I'd say that there is a 99.9% chance the player Smith was refering to was Jason Cayless.

Yes you dumkoft Brian you do stand in his way I bet ya 50 mill that Wayne Bennett wouldn't let somone like Dane Carlaw or Tom Leroyd go if all was equal or any other good coach for that matter even Paul Langmack wouldn't be that thick.

If he gets sacked he dont get paid out.

You'll find his contract is performanced based and similar to Jamie Lyon, will not get fully paid out if he doesn't coach. He may get partially reimbursed.

This is why coaches then try to sue for compensation whan they get sacked.

In any case the coaches salary is not covered under the salary cap, so I'm sure there would be a few willing sponsors happy to come to Eels rescue, if they had to find money for a replacement for BS.

I got $10 doing nothing.

I'm pretty sure this is wrong. Chris Anderson got paid out.

A mate of mine last week, sent a letter to the board basically ripping into them about the buying and selling of players. What do you know, but Brian rings him on his mobile making every excuse under the sun about this player and that player that he let go, and vica versa for players he signed.

Whilst i am quite impressed that he took the time to ring my mate, and talk to him for 45 minutes, i think it shows the desperate stage things have got to for him. After the phone call, my mate said that he hung up feeling that not a single question he had posed the board has been resolved.

Stay tuned.

Wow, dude that's a pretty amazing story. I can't beleive Smith actually rang your mate to explain. Have to give Smith credit for having the balls to do that. Look, at the end of the day, the poor bloke lives and breathes his job and he's probably having countless sleepless nights trying to work out what the f@ck he can possibly change or do to get us out of this mess. You can't fault the guy for trying his heart out. He's a very proud sort of bloke and as he said in the ch.9 interview the other night, he's a sensitive type of person so this mess we're in will be taking quite a personal toll on him not to mention the personal abuse he's copping.

I'd love to see him turn it around and make us all look like fools for calling for his head but I just don't see it happening, I really don't. It's a pity because he had a great run from 97-01  and he deserves to go out with his dignity and reputation intact but the longer he lingers around and the deeper the hole we're in gets, the more fans he will continue to put offside. He could have gone out at the end of 2002 (when the signs were there) with his head held high but now things are just getting very, very messy... :?

I dont think Anderson did, thats why he is taking legal action. I think the sharks have claimed he was actually in breach or something, hence they dumped him

and all the money they are losing thanks to smaller crowds and poor publicity?

Not our problem.

I go to the footy to:

(1) be entertained; and

(2) watch my beloved team compete.

At the present time, neither is occurring. And it is simply due to the fact the players and coach have lost any passion they had left for the club.

What a bunch of disappointments.
