I got the alan jones biography Jonestown for christmas and in it they talk of jones's high praise for jacin sinclair the former balmain and nsw centre.

I was wondering if anyone knew what happend to this guy ? According to the book he was signed by souths from the tigers when jones was employed by the bunnies and then nothing. Where did he go and was he any good ?

I would also be interested in others opinions on jones's coaching stints in league.

Like many other has beens and never were's he had a season at the Rooster's in the late 1990's.. Skilful attacking player who couldn't tackle is my recollection of the guy. Would have fit right in playing union.. I don't think Jones was much of a coach to be honest..

JC last played in 2002 in the charity shield.
He had the "talent" but then 95% of kids who make 1st grade have "talent".

I think he ended up at Balmain in 99 played the majority of the season in PL. I do recall Sinclair playing for Souths in 94, had a good season but was hardly seen after that.

I remember he called a reporter "An Egg" in 1994 over match fixing allegations the bunnies were accused of in a Wests vs Souths game.
Souths took a big lead and the Magpies came back to win.

He had more talent than most.

I could name you 100 kids with just as much talent as JC...names like :

Owen Craigie
Duneman Brothers
Troy Pezet
Garen Casey
Willie Peters

Sinclair had brilliant ball skills and was one of the most effective attackers in his day but as with others like him he only had his head screwed on for 10% of his career.

Who?
Who??
You're kidding, right?

Not many on that list had the talent to destroy King Wally and the Broncos at LP, particularly out of position at 5/8 with a weakened team around him.

That sums him up best. With a decent coach around him like Folkes or Sheens he may have ended up with a longer more refined career. As it turns out he lacked the mental capacity and discipline to make a real fist of it.

Tried to make a comeback at Souths in 2002 when the re-entered the comp.

Rabbitohs Sponsorship:CONFIRMED
Express Glass will be the principal
sponsor for Rabbitohs centre Jacin
Sinclair, in its continuing commitment
to the resurgence of the South Sydney
Rugby Leagues Club.
“It’s great to be sponsoring an
individual. It puts a face to the dollars
and you know that your support is
helping a key player to reach his
potential,” said an elated Keith Grocott.
“It’s also good to be supporting
a player who, after a blazing start to his
career, has had some ups and downs.
Jacin is, however, completely focused
on success with the Rabbitohs.”
Jacin’s early career form saw him
selected as a travelling reserve in the 1993
NSW State of Origin Team. With Souths
in 2002, he is looking to return to the
top level; his South Sydney player profile
states his current ambition as: “to get some
peace of mind about wasted opportunities
– I’m not going to blow this one”.
The former Balmain, Souths and Easts
player secured his contract after strong
performances in Souths’ roadshow
games, played during their expulsion
from the NRL. Coach Craig Coleman
said in a Sun Herald interview late last
year: “We like a bit of size in our outside
backs and I’d expect Jacin to make one
hell of a mark here at Souths”.
Jacin began to make that mark with
the heralded Charity Shield pre-season
match against St George, which
attracted a pre-season record crowd of
36,804. Playing a solid game, he used his
size to good effect, preventing St George
winger Matt Cooper from scoring early in
the game when Souths lost possession
on their try line.
“The atmosphere at the Charity Shield
match was electric, indicating that the
club and the code are fired up for a
really big year,” said John Coleman,
General Manager, Express Glass.

all three were brilliant talents but either mentally couldn't hack it or just didn't get the right guidence in their craeer. I mean let's get real here Willie Peters's career was f**ked the moment Craig "Numbnuts" Coleman publically compared him to Sterling.

So he did play for the blues then.

I have been following league since the early 80's but have no recollection of the guy.

It says in the book he worked as jones's driver for a bit. I guess that was when players needed jobs away from footy to make ends meat.

It also says that jones helped out julian o'neil and tricky trindall quite a bit as well.

in the book, it says his career was effectively ended when he spear tackles a bloke who was bagging him over his rel. with alan jones

Sinclair was absolute class when he started at Balmain
We had never had centres and the bloke could have been anything
Ray warren was a massive fan of his and I remember one Friday night up at Newcastle Sinclair and Paul Davis (a forerunner to Owen Craigie) beat Newcastle on their own. Sinclair scored a try and Ray Warren's commentary was Sinclair Sinclair ,... ohhhh how good is this kid. Played origin

The shmuck comparing him to Willie Peters is like comparing David Seage to Clive Churchill
