Mickey, your last inside info was Mann to start in the centres tomorrow with Field on the bench. Already proven to be half wrong when Field ran out for Cutters, let's see if it contributes to your list of flopped predictions...

Didn't say you did mate. you were talking about the sharks priorities, I would take graham before bird.
And yet McGregor would take the money for Graham or Bird and bulk up McCrone and Marketo's contracts. There's no point boys. We get nothing.

A very overrated player

And not just yesterday's shitness (he isn't a fullbacks arsehole). Game riddled with defensive errors.

If I sign him (which will be for massive overs), I hope he's played at 2nd row & no where else.

I would take Bird as 5/8 any day. Imagine him and Hunt next year. We now have the makings of a real premiership team, just a few holes to fill.

Brave man hinging your future reputation on this.

Good luck
Just keeping u in the loop champ - 2nd offer for Jack Bird to materialise w the EEls this week as reported in the media this morning - Dragons just waiting for Dugan decision before going in.. Either way say bye to Bird - Graham next to go to market ..

It's five-eighth we will be replacing, so let the negotiations with Dugan take its course. Widdop is asking for overs so just withdraw our offer to Widdop and sign Bird as Hunt's halves partner.

Forget Jack Bird.
We didn't get his position right, he left and that is now consigned to history.
We at least appeared to have finally learnt something and tied up some very, very promising juniors with incredibly good stats from the NYC
Now people propose to do exactly the same thing to the likes of Field and Dufty as we did with Bird.
Do some people not learn anything?
After the Bird fiasco people pleaded the case of retaining and promoting our juniors but evidently when it is opportune they want to forget about that in favour of signing an outsider which is exactly what Jack Bird is.
He is no longer a St GI junior, he is a fully fledged NRL player who currently plays for Cronulla and will eek out the best deal he can moving forward.
So forget all the sentimental bullshit, forget about Bird and get back to the position that was keenly advocated and yelled out about and that is put our good juniors in a proper pathway and expose them to the NRL so we can truly asses their value.
Keep the good one's as often as we can and move the others on including 1st grade stock that is past its prime.
Field and Dufty have paid their dues and are entitled to their chance so don't deny them just because of not getting the Bird position correct 3 years ago.
Time to well and truly move on.

I must admit I see more value in keeping both Dufty and Field than going for Bird.. Between you and I I think WIDDOP can be outstanding outside Hunt.. I dint think anyone understands how good Hunt is for us.. He will go down as our greatest half back since Billy Smith.

t see the Sharks matching the $900k a season from both Parra and Knights - no chance he will stay for the $700k a season Sharks are offering..

I think Bird is a good front runner and am yet to be convinced of his ability if it is to come from behind for more than 12 points.
I also think he is a bit of a grub as well.
Other than the grub comment, the same could be said of any 5/8 option not named Thurston or Milford. And 'good front runner' can't even be said of several of our options who haven't proven a thing yet.

Mickeylane I reckon the Sharks will let Townsend leave and pair Maloney and Bird in the halves for 2018 with Holmes at Fullback. They will find the money with Gallen and the older boys retiring.

Unfortunately the timing is wrong. Both Field and Dufty aren't big enough or ready for first grade. Neither have been given a real chance to show their talents by Mary and so it's probable, we will not know if they are ready or not by season end.

Bird is a first grader and SOO player so there is not doubt if he is ready or not. Both Field and Dufty are signed for a few years and so can be blooded in time for their next contract extension. With a halves pairing of Bird and Hunt we know what we have - one of the best halves pairing in the competition. A Widdop gone, Bird buy policy would be very wise as we are putting top line players into our spine.

Jack who?

Only two Jacks we need;

1. JDB
2. Jack Daniels

Order may vary from week to week but they're the only two Jack's required at Dragons atm imo
Actually laughed out loud. That is my favorite post since the one about the the guy having a loaf of bread thrown at him at a knights game.
Love your work ALSGI
