he's not a half. at his cronulla weight, he was the perfect modern day big centre. had the right mix of size and speed.

if he or his coaches don't settle on a specific position soon, he'll end up being a journeyman bouncing around from club to club just plugging holes, bit like Hodko has become.

You keep telling us he can play 5/8, but from what I've seen of him in the halves he looked like a clunky bumbling fool. The attempted ball playing/collision with Korbin Sims really displayed that. It was hilarious.

He can’t kick, can only pass OK one side and isn’t very quick.

In his favour is he’s strong for his size and has good instinct. His only regular position at the moment is centre until he bulks up (everywhere but his gut) when he can maybe be a backrower.

I wasnt a fan of Panthers signing Maloney on big money... but at $850k he seems like a steal compared to Bird on $1m.

Ben Hunt absolutely destroyed the market value of players in the halves or even with thr potential to play there.

Although he is so far earning what he's on atleast.
