As I've said previously, the signing of Bird, at this stage has many advantages. He is a like for like replacement for Frizell, in fact has some advantages over Friz, age being one. If, and when fully fit, is one of the most potent attacking players in the NRL. He will bring some arrogance (in a good way) to the team. He can play in a multitude of positions if required, etc.
The final piece of his puzzle, is that, if he does jave a re-occurrance of any of his well known injuries (ACL's in particular) he can be almost guaranteed a medical exclusion.

So win/win if you ask me.

Also, his rhetoric I read yesterday, stating he wants to ensure he is 100% fit before he even allows himself to play, further emphasises the point he really wamts to basically resurrect his career (ie: he may not even play in the openning rounds), given his salary is a mix of 'match payments" ie: no play no add salary.

Again win/win.

Not sure about a medical exclusion. You can be medically retired on full pay for the length of your contract and that money is excluded from the clubs cap if they can prove it wasn’t a pre-existing condition at the time the contract was signed. This may be difficult to prove with Bird if he does the same ACL.

In saying that I think he’s worth a punt. We need to get quality in the side and some risks are worth taking to try to move up the ladder. The Tigers took a punt on an injury riddled Scott Prince in 2004 and he won them a comp in 2005.

I suppose there is a recent history; Aitken, Lafai, Norman, Merrin, K Sims and a winger or two that causes some to be very anxious with the idea of having a risky signing.

I'm in favour of Bird's inclusion mainly because he is a local junior and a top line player if fit. Unlike Norman he has an incentive based contract so he will be trying his best to stay on the field and play well.

I still feel that we should try to off-load Norman in a similar fashon to how Brisbane off-loaded Bird. At least in that way we may be able to buy a couple more top grade forwards.

Jack has had a lot of adverse publicity from the time he decided to go to Sharks.
Obviously it was money and the chance for FG which he achieved. Really McDud wasn't going to include him and the money wasn't enough so off he went.
Bit of bad luck at the Broncos and all the time he was going to come home one day (so he says)
He will be a great asset with an injury free season under his belt.

Dufty will have enormous pressure on him to perform in 2021. Now we have:
Ramsey
Schiller
Bird
Lomax

All capable of filling the fullback spot. The Feagai brothers are there waiting to replace a centre or winger who might have to move to the fullback position.

Got to give him a lot of credit for that. Shows a very mature attitude.

It is his defence, his confidence under the high ball and his overall positional play. I would also like to see Dufty communicating with his team mates in defence to maybe plug up those holes and let them know the numbers each side of the ruck.

Dufty will have another off-season under a good coaching staff to work on these issues. If he manages to improve on the above parts of his game, I'm sure he will be even more devistating next season. But in 2021 we at least have a few young guns that can fill in if necessary.

So let me get this right. He played there all of last season. So if he has couple of bad games you want to stick a kid in one of the hardest positions on the field with no 1st grade experience.
Yep makes a lot of sense to me.
Bird or Lomax won't be playing full back either.
