I honestly thought that article was from 2017 when I read it. When our season turns to sh*t our media articles become as one dimensional as our attack.
Where’s the anger, where’s the ‘we are lucky SuperCoach has given us this opportunity to redeem ourselves’ wheres the apology.

f**k that, where’s the coaches resignation.

He basically says he doesn’t pay attention to media, doesn’t know what position the team is on the ladder, Mary is a top bloke, And if they play to their potential they’ll beat anyone
I too won't listen to the interview but if he has said all those things you have stated then he is my new most hated dragon, lafai moves to number 2.

I just think he sees Origin as the pinnacle and everything else is a bonus. Much like making top 4 has suddenly become about making the top 8 because that's the real goal.
Ha ha ha
Imagine Cam Smith or Slater saying this shit?!!

Or Gallen, or Cronk.
Or Burgess, or Inglis.

Nope, just losers say what JDB said.
Mediocrity rules our club.

I feel sure that something big happened during the camp before the game against the Eels. There was either a big disagreement or Mary decided to give them a rest - relax - booze-up and the players came to the game under-done and with other than football on their mind.

Dragons statement: Jack de Belin

Jack de Belin has made the decision to discontinue his appeal process against the judgement of her Honour Justice Perry in his case against the Australian Rugby League's 'No-fault' stand down policy that was scheduled to take place in the Federal Court today.

De Belin made the decision to discontinue proceedings as a direct result of the determination early this week of the commencement of his criminal trial in the District Court on March 2, 2020, which is prior to the start of the 2020 NRL season, and given the likelihood that the outcome of the Federal Court appeal would not be finalised until after the completion of the Dragons' 2019 season.

De Belin maintains that the NRL's stand down rule operates as an unlawful restraint of trade and is contrary to his presumption of innocence.

De Belin withdraws appeal, ends stand-off with NRL

DRAGONS forward Jack de Belin has withdrawn his appeal against the NRL's no-fault stand-down policy, ensuring he remains stood down pending the outcome of his criminal case.

De Belin and co-accused Callan Sinclair appeared in Wollongong District Court on Tuesday morning where Acting Judge Paul Conlon set a starting date of March 2 next year for for their trial on aggravated sexual assault charges.

It will see the trial, that's expected to last two weeks, begin just 10 days prior to the start of the 2020 NRL season and before the Federal Court appeal process would have concluded.

De Belin and Sinclair have pleaded not guilty to the charges stemming from an alleged incident in a Wollongong apartment last December.

De Belin was stood down by the NRL in February after his first court appearance, becoming the first player sanctioned under the game's new 'no-fault' stand-down policy.

The policy stipulates that players facing serious charges - carrying 11 years imprisonment or more - will be automatically stood-down from playing until their court process has concluded.

De Belin failed in his first legal challenge of the no-fault policy in the Federal Court in May, with the court ruling in the NRL's favour.

He subsequently launched an appeal that was withdrawn on Thursday, a move welcomed by the NRL who've worn criticism from the Rugby League Players Association that claims the policy undermines the presumption of innocence in criminal matters.

"The Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) and the National Rugby League (NRL) welcome the withdrawal by Jack de Belin of his appeal concerning the NRL's no-fault stand down rule," The NRL said in a statement.

"The NRL's no-fault stand down rule introduced in March 2019 and confirmed by the Federal Court in May continues to apply.

"The Commission and the NRL take very seriously our responsibility to protect the reputation of the Game and its stakeholders.

"We have always held the view that the no-fault stand down rule is in the best interests of the game and are pleased that the legal challenge to this rule has now been concluded.

"We continue to work with the Club to monitor the welfare of Mr de Belin."

The RLPA has signalled it's intention to continue it's fight against the policy, releasing a statement soon after the NRL on Thursday.

"The agreement is in Jack's interests and we understand the reasons for this," it read.

"The RLPA remains of the view that the NRL's stand down rule has been introduced in breach of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

"The RLPA also remains of the view that the stand down rule operates as an invalid and unreasonable restraint of trade, and will continue to address this with the NRL together with other issues through the CBA dispute process.

"The RLPA understands the pressure the recent alleged integrity issues placed on our game.

"However, it is important that under a partnership model the parties to the CBA work together in finding joint solutions to address challenges of this nature.

"The CBA dispute is critical to our members to ensure the role of their collective representative is not undermined and that the arrangements secured under the CBA are protected."

The Dragons also released a statement addressing the matter, saying de Belin's decision to withdraw the appeal was in response to the trial date coming prior to the start of the 2020 season.

"Jack de Belin has made the decision to discontinue his appeal process against the judgement of her Honour Justice Perry in his case against the Australian Rugby League's 'No-fault' stand down policy that was scheduled to take place in the Federal Court today," the statement read.

"De Belin made the decision to discontinue proceedings as a direct result of the determination early this week of the commencement of his criminal trial in the District Court on March 2, 2020, which is prior to the start of the 2020 NRL season, and given the likelihood that the outcome of the Federal Court appeal would not be finalised until after the completion of the Dragons' 2019 season.

"De Belin maintains that the NRL's stand down rule operates as an unlawful restraint of trade and is contrary to his presumption of innocence."

De Belin to learn trial fate as Dragons cling to finals miracle
Adam Pengilly
August 27, 2020 — 5.57pm
Sidelined St George Illawarra forward Jack de Belin will learn on Friday whether he will face trial on sexual assault charges when a judge hands down a verdict on legal argument.

De Belin, who has not played since 2018 after becoming the first player stood down under the NRL's no-fault stand-down policy, will return to court on the day the Dragons face the Titans only hours later in Sydney, clinging to a faint finals lifeline.

Signing Anthony Griffin and marking Dean Young as the long-term coach makes sense for the Dragons, Brad Fittler says.

Wollongong District Court Judge Andrew Haesler has been deliberating on complex pre-trial legal arguments since last month and will either confirm a trial will proceed - likely to be later this year - or allow de Belin, and co-accused Callan Sinclair, to walk free.

The majority of the legal argument between lawyers has been held in a closed court and details have not been able to be published.

De Belin and Sinclair have been accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside a Wollongong apartment after a night out in December 2018. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Despite not having laced on a boot on matchday since the Dragons' finals campaign two years ago, the off-contract de Belin has fielded lucrative offers for next season from both St George Illawarra and the Warriors.

The Kiwis, who have already signed teammate Euan Aitken, are believed to have tabled a deal for the former State of Origin representative which would net him close to a $200,000-a-year pay rise on his current deal.

De Belin and his manager have told both clubs his immediate priority was Friday's court appearance.

The Dragons, who are paying de Belin his full $595,000 salary this year, have allowed the forward to train with the team since he was charged by police.

He has even been included in the club's biosecurity bubble, a strict set of protocols for players and officials to allow the competition to continue during the COVID-19 pandemic.

'I suppose if we win every game we're a chance, but that seems like a fair way away at the moment.'

Dean Young
Caretaker coach Dean Young will be missing more forward power for the clash against the Gold Coast at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Friday night, which could lift them to within two points of eighth-placed Cronulla. The Sharks play the struggling Cowboys on Saturday.

"I suppose if we win every game we're a chance, but that seems like a fair way away at the moment," said Young, who will be in charge of just his second match since the club parted ways with Paul McGregor.

"I was really happy with the boys' performance on the weekend [against Brisbane] in terms of I thought they competed for the full 80 minutes two weeks in a row, but the challenge for this group now is to probably compete harder in those 80 minutes. That's what I'm looking for.

"At this present time I will be picking the best available team to go out there and win the game and I won't be looking towards the future.

"Down the track my thoughts on that might change, but mathematically we can still make the finals so I'll be picking the side I think can do the job and give ourselves the best chance of getting a win."

Young will be without suspended forward leader Paul Vaughan, who was banned for two weeks after being charged by the match review committee for a crusher tackle against the Broncos. It was Vaughan's first game back after being placed in a 14-day COVID hold for breaching NRL biosecurity rules.

Injured brothers Tariq and Korbin Sims will also be out with Young flagging his intention to rotate back-up hooker Billy Brittain with Ben Hunt in the No.9 role.

"I think if we can find Hunty a spell we're going to get even better footy out of him," Young said. "He's playing some good footy at the moment and I reckon that will even improve if we find him a spell somewhere."

Confirmed going to trial:
St George Illawarra Dragons star Jack de Belin will face trial in November, accused of aggravated sexual assault.
De Belin was set to learn his fate on Friday with Wollongong District Court Judge Andrew Haesler considering whether the trial will proceed or the NRL star would be allowed to walk free.

Confirmation has come through on Friday morning that the former is the case.

OT, too many ppl on here were living in a fantasy world of JDB might be back this month, might be back that round etc. Was never going to happen and almost certainly was heading to a trial, which it officially is now. This shit has been bubbling along since late 2018 and in my opinion handled very poorly by our organisation and ex head coach.
It is now time to close the book on JDB and start recruiting forwards to replace Graham, Frizell and De Belin. We can get away with having McInnes replacing Be Belin but we at least need the two other positions to be filled 'like for like'.

I agree Possm & irrespective of what happens in the trial, it’s time for the Dragons & JDB to move on in different directions.

Irrespective of what happens in trial??
I'm glad he's going to trial, that way the courts will decide if he is guilty or not, but "if" he is found not guilty I think he needs to know who his friends are [or were] in tough times. You don't abandon your child if you believe in them, as the Dragons obviously do.
