Far too many far too critical of Billy Burns.

He has great potential and has shown much more than many give him credit for as they are far too busy looking for errors / negatives rather than looking for the best in him.

Good pace, runs great lines, got footwork, has a goof offload and importantly cannot set up a support and even more importantly can deliver a final pass.

IMO our biggest concern with Billy Burns will be keeping him.
In my opinion, Billy has to improve his defensive skills a lot to hold down a first-grade spot. Yes, he got some NRL game time in 2021 but will have more competition for a spot in 2022. So, he'll need a very good off-season to progress to being a regular first-grade player next season.

Had the same thoughts, dido Sloane
Yes, I'd say that Amone will make the 6 jumper his own in 2022. For sullivan to progress, Griffin will need to move Hunt to hooker.

For me, the durability of Sloan is my only concern for his 2022 campaign.

For the Dragons with a spine of:
1. Sloan
6. Amone
7. Sullivan
9. Hunt

We definitely have better depth in our outside back for 2022. It will be very interesting who Griffin selects in round one. I'd say that:

Left-wing, will be the most contested position in the team with Moga, Matt Feagai, and Ramsey, all with a good chance of being selected.

Our centers look to be Suli and Lomax.

Right-Wing looks to be a contest between Ravalawa and Max Feagai.

My tip is that it will be:

1. Sloan
2. Moga
3. Suli
4. Lomax
5. Ravalawa

We have the skill, speed, and potential to match it with the best. The question will be, do we have the defensive skills and size.

In the halves, my preference is to go with Amon and Sullivan, Mainly because they are our future and they have a good understanding and have formed a good combination during their junior days.

6. Amone
7. Sullivan

In the forwards on paper with have the personnel to bring back that brick wall defence up the middle and maybe even bend the line from time to time. I see our run-on pack being able to match it with the best if Burgess displays a full recovery from his hip operation:

8. Molo
9. Hunt
10. Woods
11. Sims
12. Su'a
13. De Belin

On the bench, I have to go for Mbye as our utility player. He should be joined by our two best bench props and a 17th man who will most suit Griffins game plan for the match.

14. Mbye
15. Burgess
16. Lawrie
17. Kerr / Burns / Bird / Fui

All-in-all a pretty good 17 with good depth for season 2022.

If your worried about Sloan's durability at fullback don't use him as a battering ram to run back the ball. That's where Duff fell down and here is the reason. We only had Rava capable of helping the fullback to run us out of trouble with both Ramsey and Duff getting ragdolled and when Rava got suspended we had nothing. In season 2022 we should have Rava, Suli and Moga if he gets a run over Ramsey.

And how good was Peter Gill

I have this memory imprinted in my mind of him bursting through the middle at Kogarah, creating a 2 on 1 with the fullback then instead of simply drawing him in and passing he veered right, flicked passed it behind him to the left winger ...... under the posts. Was freaky play.

Thinking the same ..... Luv his poker face no emotion when he scores a try no emotion with anything he does on field can see him improving next year with every game.....

Indeed

He was one of several Qlder’s we picked up around that time that gave very honest and loyal service to our club.

Shame that in recent years others didn’t take a leaf out of his book.
We got several of them after they won the comp in Brisbane the year before if I remember, souths I think it was. Fairly sure Mark Coyne was one of them
