This guy has been a revelation in a forgettable season. I can't see how we can't have him in the side next year - which will mean Hayne to five-eighth.

He has stepped up to first grade standard easily and clearly belongs in firsts. His tackle and holding up of the ball to deny a certain Souths try was outstanding. Add to that his beautiful 20m pass inside on the run to hit Burt on the chest for our only try and it clearly shows why he has to play firsts.

He reminds me a little of Brett Hodgson and is only going to get better.

Thoughts ?

yeah should be a walk up starter but that all depends where hayne wants, i mean where Sticky wants to play hayne next year.
He is too good to leave out of the top team. His postional play and support play is brilliant. Hodgson like as you say.

I still maintain our best 'spine' leaves Hayne at fullback with Kelly and Sandow in the halves. Mullaney has been fantastic but may need to bide his time or move on to the wing.

Agreed. However I don't know if he could be used on the wing, as he is quite short and would easily be out-jumped like Luke Burt. Great back up for Hayne, though.

He should be a walk up start to take Luke Burt's spot on the wing.

Speed to burn and plenty of guts imo. Start him on the wing and see how it goes from there.

Have really enjoyed watching this kid run around for you guys. Quick, skillful and a real instinct for FB.

I reckon if you don't play him at FB another club will snap him up. How long is he signed for?

I can't see the point of him on the wing. His kick returns are nothing special - it is his chiming into the backline and his backing up where he is dangerous. Imagine him playing outside Hayne !!!

Also - I am yet to be sold on Kelly.

Hayne is still our best option for fullback IMO, but it is good to know we have this young bloke waiting in the wings.

I'd move Mullaney to 5/8 before I moved the special one to 5/8,

I much prefer Kelly at 7

no idea what to do with Sandow

Hayne will be at 6, put your house on it.

I think we'll run out something like this next year...

1. Mullaney - Sticky likes energetic/zippy fullbacks that are always on the ball and backing up the play. He said in a recent interview when asked who will be his fullback next year that he hasn't made any decisions yet but your fullback has to be the most energetic player on the field...

6. Hayne - It's going to happen.

7. Sandow/Kelly - Sandow will get first crack but Sticky won't tolerate his poor defense. Sticky has been ruthless in the past with his halves so expect to see some chopping and changing here if one or the other doesn't perform.

Hayne has proven multiple times that five-eighth is definitely not his best position. I'd rather have our best player in his best position than move him to accommodate a youngster, no matter how good he is.

He was the one player to really trouble us. I'd have him on the wing in a roving role similar to Merritt for the Bunnies

1. Hayne
2. mullany
6. Sandow
7. Kelly
Dumpster. Roberts

Makings of a good spine there with some hard work

X2.

Mullaney has been the pick of the rookies for me.
