Sandow wont be at the eels next year is the latest rumour

What will we be filling out the $500,000 hole with?

Kelly has the potential to be a long term leader at the club IMO and think we should have gone much harder after him than we did. We now have to accommodate both he and Sandow. Either inside or outside Kelly, Sandow will find the stability he doesn't get with Roberts. If our forward pack can be beefed up, as pessimistic as I am we can make a run at the eight. Hayne will be more valuable playing out of the halves if that is the case. Centre may even be a better option.

Colonel - I am shocked that someone with the footy knowledge you have would honestly suggest Hayne to centres. What would be the point of that? How many tries has he laid on with his cutout pass - are you saying we dont need them?

Mullaney is extremely dangerous running the ball and supporting the ball carrier, but he's very shaky under the high ball. We've barely caught a bomb all year without Hayne in the side, though both Sio and burt are just as much to blame as Mullaney. I agree that Mullaney has to be somewhere in the side, though I don't know where that is. Has he played 5/8? Who knows, maybe he'll spend all his time catching bombs with Sio over the summer and it won't be a worry.

Hayne can potentially play anywhere, but I think that anything other than 5/8 or fullback is a waste.

Kelly looked good starting in the halves, but it's not as though we've seen a lot of him.

Can't pass to wingers and centres when sweeping around the back. I see that as having cost us a few tries at the back end of the year. Thus it's his greatest weakness and the one thing stopping him from pushing HaHa to five-eighth.

But gee, the kid can find a hole and motor. Nice ability to swerve at speed, too.

His not a bad player I just think physically he gets dominated in every aspect of the game, he needs to bulk up.

Mullaneys strengths: Backing up through the middle of the play and he is quick

Mullaneys weaknesses: Shaky under the high ball, Soft kick returns and always get dominated in the tackle, defence one on one is poor, and as HJ mentioned he struggles to pass the ball after getting it out the back on that swooping play.

I know who i'd rather have as fullback

We either try Mullaney on the wing or put him back to the reserve team with Ben Roberts. Hayne has to be fullback next year, our halves should be Sandow and Luke Kelly.

Mullaney can be Hayne's jockey and steer him around the paddock,Ricky to give Mullaney a free reign with the whip

Don't need to play fullback or 5/8 to throw a cut out pass. I look at Manly and their best back line player is Lyon and the attack can revolve around him from centre. I can't see why Hayne can't be used in the same way and quite successfully as well. I think it could take the focus away from him and make him more dangerous.

I'll like to see hayne at 6 with the new structure in attack that we have now.

Essentially as a 2nd receiver with Paulo being the middle half.

It has provided alot of room to Sandow and that's what Hayne needs.

The time he has been at 6, he played as first receiver and it didn't really suit him.

However, defense is our first priority to get right.

The issue I have with Hayne at centre is that we play really flat. Unless we change that then it could work but I'd like Hayne to get the ball as frequently as possible.

I don't think he has the kick return or the strength under the high ball to stay in the #1 long term. His greatest ability IMO is to beat a tackle and he is a great finisher IMO. He would suit the wing or in the #14.

Either way Hayne, Kelly and Sandow is our best spine, N.Smith our best hooker if no one is signed.
