Factually the Dally M awards are a Murdoch press award ceremony. not official ARLC/NRL awards.

Actually they are the official awards of the NRL. They're as official as you can get.

Given a generation is 15 years and is continuously flowing in sport, there should be approximately 110 immortals.

Factually - he is the Dally M Centre of the year - ie the "NRL's best centre" for 2015.

Is he the best centre at the moment? Not even close.

Not sure why you're so worked up over this. It's a factually accurate comment when put in context. Journalists love messing with context to say outrageous things. This isn't even up there with some of the crazy things journalists get away with saying through use of context.

So wouldn't that mean he was the best last year, not the best now, which means it isn't a factually correct comment at all?

Unless you know of a Dally M awards ceremony held monthly, weekly or daily - it's still a factually correct statement.
