No announcement but during the game both Eddie and Stevo announced that Lyon was in talks with Saints about signing a new deal and that he is 'keen' to a sign a new extension.

Mark O Neil (Ex West Tiger player) was also commenting and said that Lyon had improved 'alot' since he's time in the NRL.

If saints are to re-sign lyon, then they will have to sacrifice some players because he won't come cheap, he is the hottest property in the rl world.

Jason Hooper will leave, as will Paul Anderson.

Jamie Lyon can have Paul Andersons contract added on to he's current one, then we can sign a prop from Australia for our last overseas spot.

I've heard we're after Asotasi.

Quite easy imo to fit it under the salary cap.

Sure, it'll all work out perfectly. Hell isn't talau off contract, maybe you could tempt gasnier to slot in there as well?:D

I wait with interest the day saints receive their mega sized tax bill.

Look at our squad compared to Leeds and Bradford.

We have one of the smallest squads in super league.

Hardman, Moore, Greenwwod, Clough, Smith - are all very basic wages for young first team players. There combined salaries will be peanuts.

Then we have the average salary joes such as Mike Bennett, Maurie Faasavalu, Ade Gardner, James Roby, James Graham (he'll no doubt be a top earner on he's next contract), Fozzard and Wilkin.

Fair enough we have a few stars but if injuries strike to key positions again then we are stuffed.

Bradford have a squad of 30 including the likes of Watene who wont get a game when Bradford get a full team back.

Leeds also have a rather large squad with youngsters such as Feather having quite a few years of Super League.

Saints work their salary cap so we have a very strong 17!

Try looking to the opposite wing, if you want a Saints target.

When Lyon leaves next year I'd move Leon Pryce to centre and buy Jamie Rooney from Wakefield to play #6

Sod off, you're not getting our champion half :p

And on the topic of Wakey - another great victory tonight :D

Hoping to see Lyon return to the NRL... he deserves an Australian test jumper and he won't see another one over in England.

But I guess we'll see what his final decision is... which I'm assuming won't come until June 30

Think he has a tough decision ahead: stay here where he is enjoying his game and not get rep footy or return home and get that, but risk finding that he can't handle City life again.

St. Helens is way out in the country isn't it  Get a clue, he left because of Brian Smith not because he hated city life.

That's right, because people come to St Helens for the bright lights of The City!:?

If the only reason Lyon walked out on Parra was down to Smith, I wonder why, with Smith leaving and Lyon looking to return home, that he hasn't already signed a contract extension with Parra!

Believed to be Saints preferred target, if Lyon leaves ?????????
But knowing Saints, they will be looking at somebody completely different, while everybody thinks they are looking at Cooper.

Because Lyon and Fitzgerald have only just agreed to negotiate? Things don't happen overnight mate, the Eels haven't offered him anything to accept yet.

And Matt Cooper just signed an extension with the Dragons so I don't know what you're talking about. Seems like you get more credible by the post .

As it said, PREFERRED TARGET and Saints often look at one with no intention of signing, while they look at others. Does it say they are signing him?..No... and does a contract mean he and St George cannot be approached?...No

If you like, I can keep casting you lines, because it looks like you will take them all day.:p
