Cooper signed an extension for two years with the dragons several months ago with no get out clauses. Given Timmins, Bailey and Barrett are all likely to leave the Dragons and Gasnier is a distinct possibility of going to Rugby Union with over 1.5 million in extra salary cap space, I personally wouldn't be surprised if Lyon holds off until June 30 and sees what the dragons are doing.

I don't claim to have any inside info, just an observation!

At what point did I say they were signing Cooper? I said that he was a preferred target and would expect if they are looking at 1 player, then they are possibly looking at somebody elsewhere.

Darren Albert also signed a new contract with Saints last year, but then asked Saints if he could be released to return home. Contracts are only worth the paper they are written on. I think you would agree that Jamie Lyon proved that with Parra.

And if Lyon does return home after this season, then I would be happy to stick with the Red Vee.

Yeah, Parra still control his contract until the end of the year. Granted selective releases for him to play for Wee Waa and St Helens, but not for any city based NRL club.

Not entirely true is it? Allowing him to play in SL is hardly forcing him to sit out his contract period.
