Get that big fat juicy chequebook out! we need him for many reasons.

The obvious one is he is class.

The second is class attracts more class and the more successful we are the more class and sponsorship dollars we get.

The more sponsorship dollars we get, the less strain on our founding clubs, which they can then pump into two PL sides.

Two PL sides with $$$$ to spend means we attract more class juniors.

Blah, blah, blah.

True, it would come down to where Jaimie would best fit but if it was to come down to a bidding war a side like Canberra would start favs for sure.

He's worth signing for sure but I would only have gone for him if we hadn't signed Whatuira. Otherwise it really is a case of trying to then find someone to release because we're over balanced in one area, that being the centres.

Well if he was willing and he was offered to us, I'd move Elford to the wing, so therefore we won't have to buy a winger and have Whatuira and Lyon in the centres.

Dont forget lyons is a parra player and you know how well we can improve them once they see the light and join the TIGERS. He is class, will help attract players in the future and how many tries will he score running off benji...... whatever it takes we must go after him. Sure we need depth in a lot of areas, lyons is an asset any side would want.

the point of the article was a jibe at manly and that parra would offer it to most other teams bar them.. teams that can't afford his services.. or teams he wouldn't probably come to (that's where the tigers fit in)

* Third, how many ex-Eels have you actually improved upon? Moodie is playing like he was for us, so is Richards (the only difference being Patty hasn't had any other problems since his horrific injury; good on you, mate!), Buettner hasn't really achieved anything.

The only difference is Hodgo, who has remembered how to put his body on the line, catch, make line-breaks and kick goals (why couldn't you do it last year mate?)

* Thirdly, the guy WOULD take a pay-cut to join the NRL. He's an arsewipe making a point - the point being (which every Eels fan already knows) that the coach is past his use by date

* Fourthly, he hasn't played NRL in a while. He's now a fat tub of lard. Granted, Whatuira, Elford and co. aren't in Lyon's class, but they are good solid performers and at least have heart and have played NRL in the past 8 months.

* Fifthly, if you do want him, you won't able to get him until 2007, whe he is off contract, and that is straight from Dennis Fitzgerald's mouth. He is playing mind games with Jamie.

Wrong BJ. The point is Parra were pissed that Lyon left. His excuse was he didn't like the big smoke. So Parra are going to hold him to that and let him leave out west, in canberra or wollongong.

He is a played of class, he is one of the best centres in the game and if a player of his class was to come knocking on our door of course we would try and gain his services

He is more of a match winner than the centres we currently and will have for next year, he is a class above all the players we have in the backline at the moment

Yes we have Depth in the centres but do we have NRL top flight quality ??? NO!!!

Jamie Lyon fits into that bracket!

I can't really argue with any of that since I agree with most of it. But I question the logic of signing a player that isnt really interested in the game, on a large contract when we already have depth in that position.

I would be thrilled if Lyon came to the club - but I would also be a little disappointed since it would mean a wasted signing in Whatuira and Elford - I'm more freaking annoyed we signed Whatuira in the first place.

Yes we could squeeze him in under our cap.
No he won't be signing with us,Fitzgerald mentioned that he would allow Jamie to sign with the WT because he consider's outer Campbelltown as rural.
Basically that is just a ploy to say that Jamie want's to play in the country and it's just a loop hole for Fitzgerald otherwise Manly could sue the sh*t out of Parra for restriction of trade.

I agree.

Besides some handling errors, Elford has played well this season. He is solid in both defence and attack. Sure, he isnt the best player out there, but I'd be willing to say that he is much better than what we've ever had in the centre position.

He cops it on here alot, and I'll never know why.
