Yeah and when Soward says "I need you to take me under my wing" Price will say "Love you but a bit busy at the moment. How old are you? Oh 28? And you still need me to breast feed you? Sorry mate. It's a tough old world out there. Go back to the Cutters and come back when you want to unleash the talent that should make you in a lock-in for Origin."

not in that way mate. as in soward is a confidence player. and building that relationship is important. if you have the support of the coach, it will make you a better player. and atm the coach and player dont have that connection

You are right there. Bennett was a brilliant coach, not for tactical reasons, but for man management. Price probably doesn't have those high-end skills yet. But I do think Jamie needs to man up next season. The Dragons need him to perform.

He seems to have that fire back in his belly! And that hit on Houston... left the big man on the floor for awhile there...

Jamie Soward says he'll do anything to stay at St George Illawarra beyond this season.
The former NSW playmaker produced a fine performance for the Dragons, kicking two goals, a crucial field goal on the halftime siren and set up Jason Nightingale for a second-half try in his side's 19-16 win over Newcastle on Sunday.
Soward moved to fullback for the last half-hour of the game after Gerard Beale injured his left knee trying to prevent a Darius Boyd try and didn't look out of place at WIN Jubilee Oval.
The 28-year-old last played in the custodian role in 2006 for Sydney Roosters and said he'd have no problem doing it again against Wests Tigers next Sunday at the SCG having made the on-field decision to switch, allowing rookie half Josh Drinkwater to make his NRL debut.
"I enjoyed going back there and I'd play there again, I had to make less tackles," Soward said.
"I can also play nine, front row, wherever, just to try and help the team out.
"When Gerard went down I said `get me back there, get Josh on'.
"It was easier to put me back there than switch everything around.
"I think Pricey was thinking it, but I sent the trainer back to ask him so not to cut him out of the loop."
Soward's current deal expires at the end of the year and he's unsure if the club are willing to extend his six-year stint, with his manager Sam Ayoub still yet to thrash out an agreement.
"I am under no illusions, I am off contract and need to have a big year," he said.
"Hopefully something is sorted sooner rather than later so I can sort out my future.
"But at the moment I am busy planning a wedding and that takes up most of my time at home."
Soward also believes if he stays he can play a role in helping to nurture the Dragons up and coming stars.
"I'd love to stay, but I understand the club's position,"
"They have Kyle Stanley coming back next season, Josh Drinkwater is an up and coming player.
"The club need to look after themselves and I know that. I'd love to stay and I think I offer good support for the young blokes.
"I like to think I can do a job."
Beale is set to have scans on his knee this week and left the ground on crutches.
In Sunday's early game in Auckland, a second-half George Burgess try earned South Sydney a thrilling 24-22 win over the Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium.
It was the Rabbitohs' fifth straight win and maintained their best start to a season since 1971 - which was the last time they won the premiership.
The performance of the Warriors was much improved but still consigned them to a fourth defeat in five games.

He's an awesome fellow and will take less money just to stay, do the right decision dragons give him a 4 yr deal he's the only off contract dragon who deserves it!

Soward was great tonight. His defence was excellent and he hit hard. He led by example. Well done.

He played really well. Second game in a row. But don't get carried away. He played like a muppet last year (except for the lead up to Origin) and poorly in the first 3 losses. Played well 2 games. Dragons win 2 games. That's what a play maker does. Any less is unacceptable. I also love his passion but spare me the Soward love. He needs to do much, much more on a consistent basis to justify another contract.

Hardbaby, sorry to disagree.
This guy gives it all, albeit not perfect.
Some players just wanna play for their club.
Young , Hornby, Creagh, Nighty, Bmoz etc.
You cant replace that.
Be as clinical as you want, this kid deserves his chance to play out his
career at Saints.
I think he will.

If he plays like that he will finish his career in the red and white. If not, rugby would love him. That field goal was superb. His goal kicking was good. His tactical kicking was great. The Wasps would be licking their lips to have that.

I haven't had a chance to watch the game yet though from what I heard on the radio during the game Sowie went well, real well and depending on recruitment I would be inclined to give him another 2 yr deal maybe 3.

I don't think it will be too long maybe another 4-6 weeks max and all the pieces will come together, our coach next yr,who we have signed in the halves whether we get Carney and maybe Sam Williams or we Re-sign Sowie and focus on developing Drinkwater, value for money I believe in going with Sowie and giving Price another 2-3yr contract as well and put some more confidence into who we have right now.
