Depends on him really if he is patient and wants to play with mates. He will get plenty of chances with origin and our yearly injury crisis. It is only 12 months then he can be 5/8th from then on

Assuming we keep Cleary then the halves will be Maloney and CLeary in 2020. YOu think Jerome will wait till 2021 to start? no way,

It will be a lot easier to offload Maloney after this season then it will be after 2019, he is old its going to catch up with him the same way it has Thurston.

Maybe it would for a year, by 2020 it would have us set up to dominate for years to come. Cleary and Katoa will play another finals series this season, Jerome might feature as well, all three have played rep footy I think its worth the risk. Theres a fair chance Dallin keeps the FB spot imo but that's another convo.

Edwards is our longterm FB surely.

Well I just think Dallin is better. His form since Edwards got hurt is better and the teams form has been better with Dallin back there, he gets to more balls on the full and starts our sets off better imo and he is more dangerous in attacking situations.

He is signed for 2019 anyway. So if he re-signs it would be for 1 year at most as a backup could be the bench player even if so. Maloney will get a start in England no matter what year it is

Edwards was leading the comp for support runs and tackle breaks before he got injured.

It is an out of sight out of mind thing sometimes x player gets injured automatically the replacement is better

Bullshit. Ive been arguing that Dallin should be our FB since Cleary was coach. Dallin has been better imo. He ran for 250 his first two games, was awesome against the dragons....he is just better imo I always argued he should get first crack when Moylan moves.

So? They are stats. I care about winning.

We have been playing better with Dalllin, we get up the field better and look more dangerous when we are there.

Dallins bigger, stronger, faster...all round better athlete. He is better positioned and a better ball runner and better under the high ball and he attacks the ball and plays with aggression. The ball playing skills are on par or close to it.

I'd argue Edwards is at least as good with his running game. I love DWZ but how can we pass up having a back 3 of Edwards(average 150m a game), DWZ(average 160m), Mansour(average 140m). Those 3 starting our sets is damn near unstoppable.

Dallin's bigger and stronger. Edwards is faster, fitter and a better ball player. He's also much better at backing up. Positionally, not much in it. Under the high ball, neither has an obvious advantage.

I'd take Edwards.

I thought I heard or read some time back the UK was not an option for Maloney due to his young family.

Tackle breaks too Edwards was pretty high in most of the fullback categories except try assists. Though neither is so not really gaining or losing

I can see Maloney being here in 2019 but not 20. Cleary and the other young halves still are 'babies' in the world of NRL and need the experience and gile of Jimmy teaching them.

Otherwise we would be in the same situation was what we were when Cleary and Martin were teamed together.

Patience. That's what's needed here.

I don't think Edwards is faster, certainly not over 40, and the ball playing is not much in it at all. Edwards isn't a very good ball player.

Positioning wise Dallin is better IMO. Dallin fields kikcs betters, gets to balls on the full more(whether that's positioning or athleticism I don't know) and attacks bombs with confidence where Edwards still looks a bit shaky when there's a contest.

Edwards definitely supports more though and I have no trouble believing he is fitter.

Can we genetically engineer a footy player with both of them as the template?

Depends what you like. I think a ballplaying FB is better then trying to get either of those 2 to pass it. Though Edwards did play halves as a junior so who knows how he will finish up. I like Dallen as a centre
