jarrod seems confused on what role and direction he should take.If he is not following exactly what the coach wants he should not be selected. And yes i have said i would select him and i feel he should be there. But you can not have a player above the team.
Now if he is confused how would he feel at wests
Reporter...How are you today jarrod
Jarrod.....I feel like a tiger
Jarrod.....hang on no this week i feel like a magpie
Reporter..how are you finding sheens as a coach
Jarrod ..I like him but not sure about him putting me in the forwards

It should be pointed out he is under contract and will out stay elliott if he stands up and performs on the field

Lets not bag each other .Tom we all have a right to say how we feel.I have it on good authority several board members would like to punt him but the cost is stopping it.
Now this is just a rumour and not fact but murraymob has approached the club and offered to coach bringing one of the paceways greats in fibro as assistant.
i also know of several sponsors doining behind the scene moves

gee I hope that's true the last thing I want to read at some point next season is that we've chosen to renew elliot's contract. Just out of curiousity, I know you've said it's rumour, but do you have a clue to why in particular these board members would like to see Elliot gone?

the unrest is coming simply through lack of results not to mention the drop in crowds.Several board members are good judges of football and understand this squad of players should do better.Bottom line Elliott is on massive money and not getting results. The style of football being taught also is boring and the people are voting with there feet

Oh and PK and MP Matt Elliot is not the worst coach we ever had. That honour belongs to Royce Simmons.
Can you give me your reasons why? I always thought he did a pretty good job at picking up the pieces and getting on with it. I also believe, and Johnny Lang acknowledged it, that Roycie had set them up well for a premiership win. We will never know if Royce could have pulled it off like Johnny did.

Shane Flanagan is the coach I would chase if we got rid of ME.
Current Cronulla assistant coach, coached the undefeated Jersey Flegg winning Roosters side a few years ago

I like that idea.

He just needs a coach to believe in him. Presto performed brilliantly under John Lang because John Lang told him to just go out there and do whatever. Anderson didnt believe in Preston and he failed miserably under him. There are just some players who you don't completely control and direct. The only coaching needed here is to let the rest of the team to know this, be aware and second guess. Pretty much what our 2003/04 boys did with Preston.

The fact is uness things completely fall apart we'll finish off better than last year and that'll keep him a job for 2009 and put him in the perfect position to have his contract renewed.

Unfortunately, you are probably right. The only way is up after finishing wooden spooners, after all.

Unfortunately you are probably both right..:(

And look at the brilliant form that Presto is in for the Titans with Cartwright giving him the same kind of freedom to read the game as he sees it.

Gotta tel you bro, i think i know 1 of the blokes your refering too who coached him at Doony and i was the one who took him in to my side for over a month to stop him leaving the club. Jazza is a great kid who ive known for a while now and the only thing he would bring to first grade is enthusiasm.
He is always willing to listen and is one of the most down earth kids you would ever meet, and him at 5/8th is your ticket to success. He's one of the few players in this game that can play off the cuff and the game needs more of it. Elliot should pull his head in and pick him at 6, and Graham at 7.

Gotta tell you bro, I think he is on his way out. I spoke to a family friend who knows him very well.

There is no room for him anymore. Tigers need a fullback, and although your 100% correct he is a 5/8th he might have to settle for 2nd best until Benji gets injured.

Hi PK
With the talent Royce had available ie:Greg Alexander, Steve Carter, John Cartwright, Brad Izzard, Brad Fittler (Till Super League), Matt Sing, Ryan Girdler, Craig Gower etc. He could only get us to the finals once and we were the 1st team beaten on that occasion. With John Lang acknowledging Royce I think he was being kind to Royce.

Pk just to add a extra few point on Royce Simmons and why he is considered our worst coach

1. 10 years as coach delivered a few wooden spoons
2.he says if he had the players lang did he would have won.The junours where always there and have been there during his 10 years. He just did not see them.
3.We had one of the worst defensive teams during his time and even now at the tigers his job is defensive coach and they cant tackle
3.The fact of if it is right or wrong is irrelevant .The players had a mutiny against him. They had enough

During Roycie's time, we made the finals twice, making it though to the 2nd week of the finals BOTH TIMES. 1997 - won week 1, lost week 2. 2000 - lost weeks 1 and 2.
The talent Royce had available that you mentioned, ONLY GOWER AND GIRDLER played a parrt of those finals.
As for Langy being nice to Roycie when mentioning the 2003 GF win, well, lets see, HOW MANY PLAYERS WERE DIFFERENT FROM THE WOODEN SPOON YEAR OF 2001 and the following year 2002 (Langy's first) to the 2003 Premiers - NOT MANY, Royce was responsible for bringing most of that squad together. Langy was appointed after the season when Royce was sacked and the only player he brought to the club for 2003 that played in the GF was the one and only PRESTON CAMPBELL - so how is what Langy said, simply being nice to Royce? What Langy said was fact.

ONE WOODEN SPOON - 2000, name the others he was responsible for as a coach?
The players had a mutiny - all started allegdely by the bloke who is currently our head trainer and has a history of stabbing the bloke in charge. The moment Royce was sacked, he pissed off to England becuase he knew he wouldn't get it as easy as he did under Royce. And this bloke played for NSW and Australia while under the coaching of Royce.

Royce Simmons > Matt Elliott

The talent at our club right now is better then it has ever been, aside from the lack of depth in the halves. A decent coach would have a Sammut/Graham halves combination working together now, and having the halves sorted out for 2009.

Sorry Rhino but Super League Semi's doesn't really count in my book.

Here are the win stats between the two coaches in question:
Royce Simmons 70/171 (41%)
Matthew Elliott 14/40 (37.5%)

Factor in Matt Elliott having the benefit of the best crop of juniors to come through the Panthers at one time... and there really is no questions about it. Matt Elliott is the worst coach the Panthers have ever had.
