If it hits the end zone, 20m 'touchback'.
And yeah, if you catch it 7m out, get hammered, and drop the ball, they get it again.

Most coaches prefer the bloke not to catch it when close to the line, just let it bounce and see what happens. If it bounces back the way it came, good luck, if it bounces into the end zone, good luck. The chance is smallest that some guy makes a play like the Arizona guy did earlier...

Yeah, Hayne did his job well there. Even as a non 49ers/Eels fan, it is very annoying that Hayne hasn't been given more opportunities in garbage time.

The 49'ers O'Line had a tough night.. the Cardinals looked really good, aggressive in both attack and defense.

yy_cheng, I watch the games at work, time permitting, assuming I'm at work when the game is on. It's not difficult to find links to free streams *cough* reddit *cough*.

The first-half touchdown came on the heels of a 37-yard punt return from Jarryd Hayne. The return was Hayne’s only touch of the game and marked the longest punt return of his young career. It is San Francisco’s longest punt return since LaMichael James returned a punt for 40 yards in 2013.
But geez the 49s need to get their shyte together.

Such an embarrassing loss. Was hard to sit through.
Hayne's run was the only bright spot of the game. Everything else just went completely wrong.
Kap had his worst game ever. There was really something wrong with his release. He wasn't stepping into his throw which had him releasing off the back foot. He usually has a rocket arm, but was coming up short on throws. After a couple of games where he looked ok, he really dropped his bundle in this one. It happens. Almost every QB has a shocker once in a while.

But Kap isn't our biggest problem. It's the defence.
After a promising opening game where we held the Vikes to only 3 points, we have let in 90 points in just 2 games. That is disgraceful! Our secondary is non-existent. We have no pass rush (thank you Aldon Smith you f**king wanker). Our opposition can make yard either running or throwing, and they are doing it easy.

Pittsburg and Arizona are two of the better teams in the League, and Roethlisberger and Palmer two very good QB's (Big Ben up there with the elite)...but there is really no excuse for what has happened in these two games. Next week we face probably the best QB in the NFL - Aaron Rodgers. He will carve us ten new arseholes unless we do something to fix our problems.

f**k!
It was nice for a few years there - even though the Eels were shit, I could rely on the Niners to cheer me up. This year just looks like a complete write-off.

Kapa is half your problem.......

If you played the vikings now they would eat use up. Just where lucky they hadnt geled and Peterson didnt have his runnings shoes on.

IMO the worse team in the NFL is the 49rs.

So why not give Hayne game time when you're getting flogged ?

Is the plumber bringing him along slowly or doesn't rate him ?

They play many rookies, he has to bring many along slowly.

Hyde is listed injured (quad) but also listed as probable.

Either way I suspect they will not over use him.

The other rookie RB Davis will get a good run and I suspect Hayne to get a couple of goes, provided they have some decent time with the ball in hand.

The defense really needs to get some turn overs even if only from punts.

Any given Sunday.............

No, Kap is only part of the problem. A much smaller part than half.
At the moment our defence makes up half of the problem. Coaching is another big part. O-line is a bigger problem than Kap.

I freely admit, Kap had a shocker yesterday. But he isn't our biggest worry right now.

Also, the Niners may just be the worst team in the NFL...but the jury is still out. Jags and Bears look just as bad as us at the moment. Our two losses came against top teams. We are definitely bottom 5.

Hayne is a long way from being a regular NFL running back.

He is a 2nd order issue for a coach trying to keep his job. He may get progressively more plays at 3rd down and 6 or so, he has to learn the position....gradually. Add to that the fact that Hyde continues to do well, and his production at least stopped the score from blowing out further.
