The revelations come two days after Hayne handed himself in to police, who charged him with aggravated sexual assault.
Police will allege the former Parramatta Eels fullback was intoxicated when he went to the house north of Newcastle, which the woman shared with her mother, on the Sunday night of the NRL grand final. The woman's mother was at home at the time of the alleged incident.
Hayne was allegedly drinking in the Newcastle or Central Coast area before he travelled in a taxi to visit the woman with whom he had been communicating on a social messenger app.
Once there, it is alleged he asked the taxi to wait about 20 minutes.
Police allege he sexually assaulted the woman, ripping off her clothes and biting her on her genitals, drawing blood.
It is believed that Hayne then travelled in the same taxi back to Sydney.
The Herald understands the woman suffered severe injuries from the bite wound and sought medical treatment the following day.
The Herald also understands Hayne was then seen drinking with another NRL player at the Merrylands Bowling Club, about 3am on Monday.
Jarryd Hayne was believed to have been drinking at the Merrylands Bowling Club, hours after the alleged incident at Newcastle.
