I was just reading Rugby League Week dated June 5th, it's the current issue. It said that going into Friday's game, Hayne was equal 3rd for most tries for Parra with the great Steve Ella. So now only the 2 Burt/Berts are in front of him.

What's the highest points someone has ever had to win the Dally M? I imagine it's Johns during one of his three, surely once Hayne inevitably gets passed that we just name him the best ever player?

I think Haynesy only needs two more MOTM performances to secure the Dally M and then from there he can earn a point or two here and there. From memory Hayne had 30 to win yet the next year Carney only had 27. He's still 5 points ahead of the next person on this year's table and if Joey is going to be the selector for the games Hayne is in then there's absolutely no chance of anyone catching up.

If we are going to decide the best ever player then it has to be robust. Suggest that we also include their supercoach points from that year and divide by two.

We have 2 games v Knights, 2 v Raiders and 1 vs Sharks remaining. If he gets 3 MotM awards he would be almost a cert...

I remember Andrew Johns doing something very similar to this, the only difference was it was a conversion and not a field goal.
