Hayne would struggle to get a job cleaning jockstraps in most NFL teams. 100kg monster running machines grow on trees over there.

given how far he can hoof a ball I wouldn't be surprised to see hayne try take a pension as a kicker in the nfl. Sav rocca, Darren Bennett and one or two others have done well there after playing at a high level of afl through until retiring.

Maybe, yes.

But what a waste of his prodigious talent that would be.

Not to mention the aforementioned tree-bred monsters know plays such as flea flickers, play actions, etc. inside out, know when to block and when to run, when to run a route, etc.

Hayne has all the physical attributes but would lack the awareness and football knowledge to make a splash in the NFL, regardless of how boring and slow the sport looks to disinterested onlookers.

i don't think he could do anything else in nfl. while by Australian sports standards he is a freak I think he would struggle in their pre-draft combines.

Some of the stuff they can do athletically over there makes most athletes here look mediocre.

That's just the thing - every player over there specialises in one area, and for about half the positions all that is required is a bit of size and explosive power. Even the biggest work horses - inside linebackers - rarely make more than ten tackles a game, so aerobic fitness is almost a non-factor.

Hayne is great at rugby league because he is the complete package - physically, mentally and technically. But there would be blokes in the NSW Cup with more speed and power than Jarryd Hayne. One trick ponies just don't make it in rugby league, whereas in the NFL about three quarters of the players never even touch the ball unless someone else fumbles or throws an interception.

HURRICANE HAYNE
Most tackle busts in State of Origin since 2002.
# Busts # Games
Jarryd Hayne # 109 # 18
Greg Inglis # 106 # 22
Billy Slater # 74 # 23
Justin Hodges # 67 # 19
Johnathan Thurston # 60 # 28

that puts into context jarryd's standing amongst the greats today.

as much as i love hayne, he wouldnt even make a college football side. Their are some absolute freaks over there who do not even get drafted - and would make Hayne look average in athleticism and have played the game since they were 5 years of age, hell in the next years college season there are some of the fastest guys in the US that will barely make a college side.

The depth is scary

NFL is the most technical game in the world that involves so many plays and intricacies. If you havent played it for years then give up, you are no chance.

agree, I think Hayne might end up doing this which i hope, he deserves to play in the biggest comp in the world at some point and be recongised in a bigger market.

Comparing NFL and NRL is so dumb,Rugby League is a constant contact sport,American Football is a strategy sport with very little actual gameplay/contact.

yep. The athletic ability of particularly the guys with African ancestry is phenomenal. I think in this part of the world the only country I can think of that produces athletes to a near quality is Fiji.

There are heaps of African-American teenagers that put most adults here to shame on pure raw athletic ability. I would love to see what they would be able to do in nrl Nd more so in afl if they were introduced to the sports at an early age.

Have a look for a kid called seventh woods on YouTube. There's a highlights clip of him playing hoops at age15. In the clip he's 6ft 1 and at the time his vertical leap was 43 inches. Apparently he was told not to do weights for strength/resistance training in case it stunted his growth. He's just one example of the freakish talent from there.

don't compare the sports. Compare the raw athletic ability across codes. A guy like hayne would need similar athletic traits to a guy like clowney, yet clowney would demolish hayne in pretty much every one of those traits.
