Back in 2016, when Hayne was claiming that he hadn't received an offer from the Eels....did it not actually turn out that the club was negotiating through his manager? Or am I mistaken?

Release of the document was considered at the time but it was decided that Parra had been in the paper enough that year and let it pass.

The whole business last time was pretty murky. In general though, I usually think you get more truth from an individual, particularly an unfiltered, not-too-bright one, than you get from an organisation. Not saying it's black and white but I won't be condemning either side based on the information we have.

Agreed, one minute Hayne was waiting for an offer from us. Nek Minnit he was a Titan all rubber stamped from Todd and the NRL. They also had a club to sell up there at the time as well.

The only one that'll know the whole story is his manager, and I'm pretty certain that he aint about to say anything that sheds either himself or his clients in a poor light.

Yep, and Hayden clearly feels aggrieved by the club as well based on his tweets.

The only arguments that people currently have for signing Hayne quickly:

- He is the best player in a team that came last (I don't agree with this).
- We don't have any better options.

Not exactly a compelling case. I am more worried that by moving quickly without due consideration we might put ourselves in a position where we cant jump at other opportunities if and when they arise. Lets not pay too much for too long.
