And then we introduced him to "Parraculture". Game over.
It's really nice to see long term users coming around to this cold, hard fact. Any nong worth his salt could see the real problem since 2007.

Bbbbbut Foran will save us, surely. No it's Moses??? Or is it Arthur?? Apparently the capricious have turned on him too
Lol u guys r fun.

On Norman ( or any one else for that matter ) and his supposed salary, if it is true that his contract is back ended, then it's a bit of a stretch to say he's on overs based upon his salary in the final year of his contract alone. One must really take into account the previous years salary on lesser amounts, not simply quote this years payment as if that is what he;s been paid for the length of his contract.

Comparing say paying Norman 900k this season to the likes of a Cronk or JT at 1.1m looks a no brainer, but when you take into account a three year contract at say 600, 750 and 900k, and compare to three years at 1.1 / year, on 2016 form it doesn't look nearly as bad.

Mennings is another, same story, fat and overpaid for 2019 ( based on 2018 form ) if what we are hearing is true, but good value in 2016/17 when performing and on a lesser amount. When Moses came across end of last year, I wouldn't have swapped Mennings for any other centre in the comp based upon his defence alone.

I'm not a great fan of the idea of back ending as it seems to me it's often a case of deferring an ever increasing risk, greater payments further into the future mean you are paying more for a less certain outcome, but in the end that seems to be how clubs create a premiership window within the current salary cap regime, knowing it's likely to f**k them over at some point, we just seem to have done it less effectively than others. Which given our recent(ish) management history, is no great surprise.

You must realize that when we signed him on his current deal we were in a massive 2016 shitstorm, Norman was in the top 3 halves on form and every parra fan was praying for his signature..and he was in high demand from other clubs

If not...we’ll ill refrain from stating the obvious

IIRC, he signed towards the end of the year while he was suspended, with speculation the dragons were chasing him. It’s a matter of debate whether we should of re-signed him considering the shit he was doing, but there’s a few old saying that come to mind. A Leopard never changes its spots or you lay with dogs you get fleas. Amazing to think BA was trying to move him on, even more amazing there’s no takers.

Maybe those ‘takers’ also thought he was a leopard (or a dog)...or a flea.

You can’t be equally incensed that we signed a deadshit and that others didn’t. That isn’t logically consistent.

I actually reckon Hayne will sign. I reckon Hoffman will be looking for another deal. He is 30. One more year in NSW cup ends his career. He needs to leave now.

They're all f**king experts in hindsight. Norman was awesome in 2016, as was Sandow in 2011.

Not only that, but every club back-ends contracts. The reason is that the current season is always more important than future seasons.

It's not amazing at all. His form was poor this year. But his current contract is based on his 2016 form, not his form this year. Do you not get that?

As for a leopard not changing its spots, in 2016 he was awesome on the field and got arrested off it. This year he has done neither, so you're wrong.

Reports were we signed Norman to a $2.2 million 3 year contract:
https://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/e...l/news-story/14ab81fa00f1a4ee44ea42f974da915f

Which works out to be $733k a year, which is probably a pretty fair amount considering his 2016 form.

Reports are he is on around $900k in 2018:

https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/cou...t/news-story/3ba1cf4803a4148353df10cb9c7f4cc6

So based on his average yearly contract amount ($733k) we have only back ended his contract by an amount of around $170-$200k, hardly a huge amount which is going to stuff your cap position!!

Yeah, but it would make sense that if we paid Norman $740k and The Plane $500k in 2018, then the pay rise that The Plane might want (to say $700k) is sitting with Norman's back ended deal...

Well if norman was on full freight every season then maybe jarryd would be bitching with the titans about his new contract cos we never would have fit him in???

Nah mate. Back ended deals aren’t hurting us. Plus Norman’s form warranted it in 2016, despite being an absolute moron, that should of be shown the door.

I dont give 2 hoots about the way we paid norman or moses ... if they played to their potential we would be perfectly happy

Messings ... meh - i thought he was a crap signing initially - then he was very good for 2 seasons - then he was crap ... maybe he will be worth it in 2019??? ... who the f**k knows

Well my guess is he is not really asking for too much of a pay rise, because the Titans would've paid him for a months pay last year, which is $100k when you're on $1.2m

I agree he should move him on but that’s in hindsight after winning the spoon this year. At the time it was a great signing imo
