Whimsical as it might seem, surely hed have a business plan behind it. Locally you would assume he would have investments geared to tax advantages. At the very worst hes got a nrl safety of 1.3 a year, regardless.

If he was smart he wouldn't have saved it. The cash rate is at a record low.
if he is smart. yes (or if he is given good advice). like I said elsewhere, interesting to see what happens in the next few months. I agree with avenger and a few others though. it's unlikely he'll make it (but like I've also said somewhere else, can't begrudge him for giving it a go, regardless of the outcome).

if he does prove people like me, avenger and Ron wrong, I hope he gets picked up by the dolphins so I can watch him play for my favourite nfl team.

He doesn't live large, and he's already earnt a couple of million in his life. You'd have to assume he's invested it properly.
not sure you or I could comment on how he lives but he wouldn't be the first high profile sports star that pissed his money away as it came in, if he hadn't invested/saved it.

Gee, bit of a speed bump & all of a sudden he'd.

It's my opinion that he won't make it - but I'm gonna say flat out he won't.

But let's say hypothetically he doesn't get signed this season, I have my doubts that he'll come back to the NRL immediately. He's been saying 'it's been a dream of mine... something I have to do" etc etc.

It would be a huge dint to his ego if he came back after just 6 months of trying. At least if he tried for 2 season, he could say he gave it an honest go.

I think the point of his financial situation is a fair one. I don't think he'd be struggling for cash or anything - but the go from getting whatever ridiculous amount of was getting, to 'nothing', isn't easy.

It's all just conjecture at this point. We'll have a better idea of where he's at after the Combine.

I don't think Hayne will make it either (hope he does though), however whether he comes back comes down to him admitting he hasn't made it. That might not be as simple as him not making it this year. As they say there's always next year.

If he's basing himself in Detroit, then real estate is... kind of cheap.

Here's hoping.

So Hayne knew that we weren't going to re-sign him? Huh?

That was his decision. There was an article when Arthur signed about them fixing the cap and paying players that weren't with the club etc. Hayne was consulted about Arthur's plans on recruitment. He later decided to act on his dream to play NFL.

phantombarteel is just a small man with very little clue about rugby league.

As if you wouldn't want just about the best player in history to come back to the club.... good one.

Pure speculation here, but what do you think the chances are that we are still paying jarryd outside of the cap for this year to lessen the amount we need to pay him in the cap when/if he comes back?

You know what happens when you assume.

If you never assume you're never able to make decisions. You just never have all the information you need otherwise.

I guess you are not aware of how Hillsong works.

Why don't you tell us how it works if you know so much about it.

I've been there. Nobody ever forced me to give them money, and they wouldn't have known whether I did or not.

You're assuming he's coming back.
