In 1964, Ken Thornett came to Parramatta from England, for seven games toward the end of the season. Parramatta, who previously had been the easybeats of the competition, won six of those seven games and drew one to make the semi finals for, I think, the first time. The following year, and for the next three seasons, Thornett played fullback for the whole year, and Parramatta made the finals all three years. Thornett made such an impact from fullback, that he was dubbed 'The Mayor of Parramatta'.
I believe Jarryd Hayne has a similar impact on the current Parramatta team. We have now won five in a row with Hayne at the back, and its looking as though history might repeat itself. If Hayne keeps this form up for the next few years, Thornett might go down in history as being the second best fullback Parramatta ever had. Behind Jarryd Hayne.
Ken Thornett was known as the Mayor of Parramatta - I propose Jarryd Hayne should be dubbed the 'Prince of Parramatta'. Dont you, H.J?
