I'm gutted to hear this tbh

Wish he dug in & fought for a spot (which SF obviously told him he won't be getting). Takes a bit of the hype away when he was saying it's his dream.

Guess he figured he'd move on with his athletic career ticking away.

Still, it was a great achievement just to play a game, I'll never forget those big runs he made in the preseason.

I guess you can retire that Hayne 49ers Jersey you bought from the Rebel at McArthur Square now you bogan try hard.

Go back to wearing your full Adidas tracksuit and Nike TN's.

Anyone know anything about the NFL shop, and if I can cancel my custom Packers #38 'HAYNE' Jersey?

You'd think he'd stick it out this year if it was a dream of his. Even if the whiners cut him another team may take a shot. Mustn't have been a dream of his after all. Now playing rugby 7s in the Olympics is his dream. He must've had alot of dreams.

Agree - even if the coach that signed Murray, Sproles and Matthews to one team didn't want him than I am confident someone else would have given him a shot.

I was stunned when I heard this story this morning. Like everyone else I did not see it coming. You would have to think that the 49er coaches gave him a hint of what was coming and he jumped before being pushed. Regardless of the reason I am disappointed to see he has given up so easily. Even if San Francisco did not want him their is another 31 teams who just might. For someone who had a dream to play in the NFL he gave up without much of a fight.

Back in 2014 when Hayne made his announcement to go to the NFL I admired him greatly for doing so. He was so passionate about the move. At that time most people said he would have to give himself at least two seasons to adjust.

Totally agree. The whole Fiji/Olympics thing also seems convenient and once done will also allow him to conveniently sign with the Roosters.

Wont be able to do that until 2017 though. Because Olympics are after June 30.

He may go to French Rugby for a huge payday before 2017 season though.
