This is 100% correct.

He does try hard and can only do as well as the opportunities supplied to him. He puts in effort that other more talented players don't. He isn't the "hard" player or the "winner" that people are listing in relation to the article though..

With that said off the back of an ACL injury - his second or third I believe - he isn't worth the new three year deal he signed until 2027 - that is usually for players who can win games rather than try hard and make the most of opportunities.

This idea that three year contracts are just for stars is absolutely incorrect. Have a look at the NRL.com signings tracker. There are dozens of nuffies on long contracts, across all the clubs. If the price is right then so is the duration.

Agreed. At the end of the career it’s the club taking the risk on long contracts, while at the start it’s likely the player taking the risk. Unless he’s signing for big money.

That's because we just had a horror season. The last two years followed a premiership window, where we lost a lot of players due to the salary cap. Have a look back at the year after 2018, another horror show. We recruited very well then too. Squad strength works in a cycle.
