And yet the four time premiers have shelled out big money for him. He's been on every club's radar for a long time, which is why we couldn't lock him down on the cheap. Talagi has massive potential. As bad as his defence was, it was still better than most future NRL players his age.
How much did they pay?

I heard they got him cheap mate. Less than we were offering.
I understand you know everything despite being nowhere near the club. The Panthers offer was basically very close the the Eels offer, within $50k as even the Panthers were prepared to pay for potential having lost Luai .

Hope he does well, has to overcome his defensive issues, but can be achieved over time.

Just taking the opportunity to duck in and wish your team all the best under Ryles who I believe will succeed but may need a bit of time to get there so keep the faith early on.

A lot of soft cocks over in my forum bagging him out & hoping he fails etc etc obviously some of them are worried about Jason’s ability otherwise why say it.

Great to see Sterlo in his new capacity for your club as well and he will be a valuable asset to the new coach and younger players.

Gaz helping out where needed should be good for you too and tbh I am pissed our club didn’t go down the J R road when they could have.

Hopefully both our clubs get back to semi final footy sooner rather than later.

I read that the Dragons tried to get Ryles but he turned them down. He obviously thinks rebuilding Parramatta is easier atm.

The Dragons have way too much nepotism and Ryles wouldn’t cop it and good on him for standing his ground.
Nepotism is a touchy word amongst Parramatta fans.

Anyway i can imagine some dragons fans who saw Ryles as a player for you blokes who was a dumb penalty merchant who did some pretty stupid things on the field that it would be hard to imagine look at him being a smart coach.

Every decision he has made will be judged in due course but he has been prepared to make some tough decisions already that a lot of rookie coaches wouldn't make. If he fails it won't through the lack of trying.

But i am quietly confident he will succeed. I enjoyed the part in the presser the other day when asked will you turn Parra into Melbourne and he said no.

Will take bits & pieces from Storm and other places he has been but at the end of the day were Parramatta and his going to mould us into his own style and make it the Parramatta way.

Thanks for the kind words, mate.

I imagine it would be bittersweet for you to see two of your club legends helping out a rival club.

Well said, mate!

Though I really like Ryles as a player - tough, and skilful. Great player

I’m just glad they are still in the game.

I enjoyed them as players and I hope I enjoy them as coaches and then get to see young players prosper as a direct result of their input.

So many of our coaches are getting towards the end of their careers so we need the next gen to succeed so the game itself doesn’t decline in quality and with the likes of P V & A A going down the expansion route then we already have a shortage of skills both in coaching and playing ranks.
