I thought Saab was going to be a gun. After seeing photos of him during the off-season, he had bulked up so much as well. I thought he’d be like a young Brett Morris. Turns out he’s no better than anything we have. The club did well cutting him loose.

I would rather watch paint dry. It is more exciting than reading a thread about a lying trader who was full of shit

I must say I watched him play the week before against Souths and he was very unimpressive. I know Damien Cook is quick but he ran down Saab easily after turning around and giving him a head start. Equally unimpressive today. Surprised Manly doesn’t have a better winger on their books than Saab. Plus his travel “excuse” for asking for a release was lame. It seems he’s just as lame as a footballer.

Saab is soft.
It can change, but both when he played for us, and this game in particular he was soft.

like everyone I got excited early by Saab. His size as a “fast” winger should excite people. However, he doesn’t put anything on the line it seems. I remember he effectively cost us a game when he started. Couldn’t catch the short kick off, then missed a tackle on the line. Sure, even then I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Today I saw him just drop his head regularly.

for his sake I hope he develops, he has heaps of potential, but needs some heart and commitment to go with it. Compare his efforts to Ramsey, and I know who I’d prefer.

Saab looks like an elite athlete...Ramsey looks like he should be in a grunge band in a bar in Newtown...one is a gun player and plays out of his skin. The other is out of his depth in first grade..go figure

Attitude is everything and Ramsey has it in spades, Saab is gutless. Cared more about being depantsed when attempting to score against the cowboys in the 9's GF than the fact he didn't score. Wouldn't bleed for a tampon let alone a jersey

Wasn't there something about there being more to his departure than meets the eye?

Would love to share the same topic re Reece Robson

This forum is still far from getting over Robson who has had ample opportunity to live up to the hype
Add Host & I haven't ever seen the Hype in his limited chances from Ford either as I predicted won't make the starting side.

This forum does like to go off about players we’ve lost.

Garrick and Saab were on opposite sides of the field, our wingers comfortably outplayed them.

Host, Marsters and Sele can’t get a start for Souths. Looch is stinking the Tigers up with his brother. Herbert is doing ok with the Gold Coast I suppose but he hasn’t exactly set the world on fire. Field is in super league now. Robson isn’t doing anything special for a poor Cows side.

Packer and Dugan, both on huge contracts that their currently clubs are trying to offload. Leeson is doing ok at the Warriors, but again don’t think he was a massive loss. Mann I never rated either.

Friz will end up being a massive loss but other than him, the other guys are meh.

Agree.
Not sure Friz will be that big of a loss tbh.
Can he De-Mary?

I think both Friz and Saab are one dimensional players. They just run in attack and take tackles. Saab is not a thinker and does not show good anticipation. Friz likes to run hard and do tackles but its basically robotic.

Our loss is somebody else's gain I suppose but I'm not upset. We have/will have better replacements just itching to use their skills.

I’m interested to see how Luciano goes this arvo.
IMO he was great in round 1 then didn’t even show up for round 2. What will today bring?

Yes I’ll be watching closely too. Not having his dopey brother on the same edge will probably help him, he’s unfortunately picked up some bad habits from Joey, particularly the lack of urgency defensively.

Newcastle aren’t a top 4 side the like previous rounds and he tends to do better against weaker opposition so will be interesting to see.
