annesley on mmm this morning confirmed all will be stood down from all football indefinitely

He said that yesterday at the press conference that announced it (Fox Sports News were running it ad nauseum last night). He also said all the players would have to front the board as part of their disciplinary procedures.

Yeah he seems to not have a clue about it. I got mates who are subject to testing when they are on the job(mining, rail) and if it stayed around for ages they wouldnt have jobs anymore, and half their co workers would be gone with them.

You would never risk it in season. To risky, same as your mates.

I know people who have had big weekend's on it and been tested on Monday. Lost their jobs immediately.

I wouldnt risk it if I knew I could be tested of course. But plenty do and get away with it for years without being caught atleast that what these guys tell me, if you are risking it its all just luck whether you are tested or not in the right timeframe.

Really depends on what sort of test they do. Swab tests are easily passed unless your a total idiot. Urine/Hair tests are much harder to pass.

Doesnt sound like anyone has actually been caught in "possession"...

Just a lot of phone calls, sms etc talking about it...

Cops will offer massive light sentence for them to roll over...

I'm not sure if the above is due to ignorance alone. The statutory body that enables these deals are the DPP (Director of Public Prosecution) not the Cops. This investigation has nothing to do with the Police it's the QLD Crime & Corruption Commission

The CCC is an independent statutory body set up to combat and reduce the incidence of major crime and corruption in the public sector in Queensland. The CCC works closely with state, national and international law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies. The CCC have powers that are not available to the police or any other government agency in conducting an investigation.

Another Club Dragged Into Titans Drugs Scandal
Triple M's Dobbo gives us a background into the Karmichael Hunt and Titans drugs scandal

Gold Coast Titans players Greg Bird, Dave Taylor and outside back Kalifa Faifai Loa will all face court and along with Joe Vickery they face charges of supplying as part of the same investigation that implicated Beau Falloon, Jamie Dowling and Karmichael Hunt.

Triple M NRL's Dobbo believes it's only the tip of the iceberg but there won't be anymore players involved from the Gold Coast Titans.

"My understanding is that is all that is left from the Titans," said Dobbo, on Triple M Brisbane's Grill Team.

"The Crime and Corruption Commission weren't actually looking for these players. They were trying for bigger fish, suppliers way up the top of food chain.

"What I'm hearing is there's another code and another club that is going to come under the microscope this week and that's the Gold Coast Suns." Listen to the full audio below.

There are reports that if players are found guilty, WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) will slap them with minimum 4-year bans.

dunno either el d, but you'd have to think that hunt wasn't just hanging out with leagueies during his time at the suns and early days at the reds.

There may be something in it, but it's hard to take a report seriously from a bloke who only goes by a nickname.

there was this http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/...p-of-the-iceberg/story-fnn8dlfs-1227234669583

Insiders say the charges against Gold Coast Titans Greg Bird and Dave Taylor and multi-code superstar Karmichael Hunt are just the beginning, with other codes and players expected to be dragged into the mess.

and this from a journo

Chris Garry @chrisgarry1

@DeanFonzy @sports_banter i unfortunately don't have afl contacts but my sources say there are afl players involved.

'Insiders say' and 'my sources'
It does sound increasingly likely that there is more to come but nothing concrete to go by yet.
Time will tell I suppose.

Imagine though if you knew that your employer had a three strikes policy, like the AFL .

Bird, Taylor and Faifai Loa won't play round 1 because they wouldn't have fronted court yet. Who knows what will happen with Falloon as he was stood down until after he fronted court. But seeing as though he won't be training with the team in the lead up to the match and the fact his mind probably won't be on the game, it would be safer to leave him out too

The NRL cannot stand them down until their court proceedings are complete I believe. This is the precedent they set with Auv'aa so they have to be consistent. Of course the Titans would be free to do so I would expect.

No way they stick to that precedent.

Unlike Souffs, The difference here is that the club are willing and able to stand them down.

Graham Annesley said this morning that the players have contractual obligations and if they feel they have breached them they can stood down regardless of court proceedings.

if it happens you can bet the headlines will be "Suns dragged into NRL drug scandal"

of course its leagues fault. the only reason they attended the blackest day in sports press conference was cos we begged them. if any of their players are charged it will be cos we begged the police to charge them so we wouldnt be the only ones.
