Jason Smith charged cocaine trafficking

But the charge is funny, they have been charge with supply, but the supply was for themselves. I assume they bought a quantity that was enough that it could be said you were supplying but was for personal use, not all of us have the money to get the discount of buying in bulk. I'm sure those charges will be downgraded.

You sound confident of that fact. Do we even know the quantity the CCC are talking about?

And "you assume"? I could assume that one of the boys rang up their dealer, said they were having a party for 30 and wanted x grams of the good stuff. Just because I assume it, doesn't make it fact.

"The CCC alleges that Hunt, the two Titans players and the unidentified woman ?arranged for the supply of cocaine for personal use or to on-supply cocaine to friends and colleagues between June and December last year.?"

This is the press release from the Qld Crime and Misconduct Commission -

Four men to appear in court on drug offences - 22.02.2015

Four men will face drug supply offences after being identified allegedly arranging the supply of cocaine during an ongoing drug trafficking investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

The CCC will allege that during an investigation focused on a cocaine trafficking syndicate operating in South East Queensland, these men were identified contacting the syndicate and arranging for the supply of cocaine.

The CCC can confirm the four men were identified during the same CCC drug trafficking investigation as four other individuals who were served with a Notice to Appear in Court on Thursday 19 February 2015. (See previous media release ( http://www.ccc.qld.gov.au/news-and-...arrest-four-people-for-drug-supply-20.02.2015 )).

The CCC will allege the four men served with Notices today arranged for the supply of cocaine for personal use or to on-supply cocaine to friends and colleagues between August 2014 and December 2014.

A 26-year-old man from Burleigh Waters was served with a Notice to Appear in Court to face one count of Possession of a Dangerous Drug contrary to section 9 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986 and one count of Supply Dangerous Drug contrary to section 6 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986. He is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 9 March 2015.

A 31-year-old man from Mermaid Beach was served with a Notice to Appear in Court to face two counts of Supply Dangerous Drug contrary to section 6 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986. He is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 9 March 2015.

A 25-year-old man from Burleigh Waters was served with a Notice to Appear in Court to face one count of Supply Dangerous Drug contrary to section 6 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986. He is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 9 March 2015.

A 25-year-old man from Miami was served with a Notice to Appear in Court to face seven counts of Supply Dangerous Drug contrary to section 6 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986. He is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 9 March 2015.

As these matters are now before the courts and the CCC’s investigation remains ongoing, the CCC is unable to comment further.

It does seem silly they would chase these small time personal supply charges. That being said, someone I know of(wouldnt call them a friend) was raided and arrested in 2009. He was small time but it was part of a bigger investigation. They had tapped his mobile and the day after arresting him they started showing up at other peoples I know doors saying "we have a voice recording of you organising to buy drugs, you're under arrest" Im talking a few pills here. So they do pursue normal punters in this manner if they can get em.

Not being in Aus anymore what drives me nuts here is context. All i can read are the hyperbolic reactions of a media foaming at the mouth to create a mountain out of a molehill. I'm tired of people telling funny anecdotes about Keith Moon or Keith Richards (who influenced far more f**king children!) but carrying on like little bitches about sports stars doing it. Role model excuse my ass. Kids don't understand shit in this regard unless we tell them. The fans care, but 99% of us just want to watch the game and not give a toss what they do off the field. Sponsors care? I wont buy a fujitsu because Mark Taylor can play a banjo. Being a Tigers fan has never made me want to eat Wokka noodles or buy a Proton. It affects the amount of kids playing the game? Did AFL youth numbers drop thanks to their scandals? Its all media bullshit. You cant get away with doing illegal drugs and should expect consequences. But it has nothing to do with NRL, NRL culture or the 300 players in NRL who had nothing to do with it.

The media in Aus is pathetic.

He said on the news this morning that all they have is some phone calls. No possession or positives tests.

An early guilt plea for a first offence sure. But if you fight a supply charge and lose jail becomes a possibility. You don't fight it lightly. You fight it if you're confident you win.

No way on god's green earth has he seen the full police brief or what the full evidence they have at this stage. He is spinning as best he can at this stage to take some of the heat off his clients. If you had even a rudimentrary knowledge of criminal procedure you would know this.

I don't think you understand.

Sponsors pay clubs to advertise them -> club is tainted by drug scandal -> sponsor tainted by association.

It's pretty simple.

Drugs crisis set to spread to Sydney with a number of past and present players set to be caught in the net

Chris Garry, Todd Balym and Jeremy Pierce
The Courier-Mail
February 23, 2015 11:00PM

SYDNEY, you are next.

Sydney footballers past and present will be investigated in relation to the cocaine supply scandal that has already seen more than 50 games worth of State of Origin talent potentially implicated.

The Courier-Mail can reveal the cocaine that Karmichael Hunt, six Titans, and two former Origin players are alleged to have supplied originated in Sydney.

It is understood the Crime and Corruption Commission is trying to uncover the entire network of the cocaine cartel and the NRL players and professional sports people embroiled in the scandal have only come on to the radar due to their association with local agents.

The wider investigation is set to cross state borders with the CCC having the power to work in unison with the NSW Crime Commission to ensure the investigation reaches a full conclusion.

The CCC would not comment on the investigation on Monday, stating that the matter remained ongoing with no time line currently set for its finality.

But the charges issued against a few sports people, for matters that are trivial in nature compared to the multi-million dollar busts the CCC typically pursue, has many within the sporting community wondering about the purpose of the very public naming of football stars.

The current charges against Hunt and the Titans players could take up to two years to pass through court and the investigation is expected to run longer.

The network of athletes this syndicate allegedly supplies is vast and during the next 18 months the investigations will create a series of nightmares for the NRL and other sporting bodies.

It will be alleged the QCCC was led to the sports stars through alleged syndicate kingpin and former Roosters player John Touma also known as John Thomas.

The 49-year-old was charged with supply and possession of cocaine at Southport Magistrates Court on February 6.

One of the charges relates to supplying cocaine to former Roosters team mate John Tobin, a veteran of 125 first grade rugby league matches through the 70s and 80s.

Tobin has also been charged.

Former Origin players Jason Smith and Matt Seers, who spent the majority of their career in Sydney, have been charged with trafficking cocaine.

Seers famously stood himself down from the North Sydney Bears in 1998 to combat his addiction to cocaine.

He was drug tested on several occasions during his admitted period as a drug abuser but never tested positive.

Seers had an inconsistent career for North Sydney but his links to New South Wales threaten to expose Sydney-based footballers.

Smith also spent the majority of his career in Sydney, playing for Canterbury and Parramatta.

Seers will front Southport Magistrates Court on April 15 while Smith will face court in Toowoomba again on May 6.

Seers is the cousin of ex-NRL player Craig Field, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of the manslaughter of NSW north-coast farmer Kelvin Kane last December.

Field was also suspended by the NRL for six months in 2001 after testing positive for illicit drugs.

I think a lot of posters on here are overlooking this: whether it is league, union or AFL, these pricks are on good coin and again they have shit in the nest.

To be honest, devoted sports fans like myself are f**king sick of this shit. Cut their f**king salary by whatever, make them go back to working a full-time job and run a semi-professional competition. Than any mishaps will really be a microcosm of general society.

Don't blame the media for being pricks cause that is what they are.
