Jason Stevens - top bloke

I just recently heard the news that he has changed his plea and will cop a one week suspension.

Now, during the match (with all the adrenaline and tension) I thought he was guilty. Then I calmed down and watched the replay - it was an accident.

I made this post because I was really overwhelmed by the compassion and even remorse shown by Jason, and I am sure most of you would feel the same way.

I just wanted to say good on him. Great player, but more importantly - great bloke.

You've just said what we Sharkies fans already knew for ages Eel. The bloke has a heart of Gold. Sadly, most people seem to judge him only for his wedgies and his religious beliefs.

Many of you probably don't know this (or even care! lol), but I only got into League in August 2000 when I returned to Australia.

My whole family went for the Eels and so I followed suit. Now, I adore them.

I used to dislike Stevens because of the wedgies and the knee-lifting.

But I've realised through playing myself at prop - knee-lifting, to a degree, is a natural reaction.

The wedgies? Well, they're not dangerous. Annoying, maybe - but not dangerous.

Then seeing him on The Footy Show and seeing the look on his face....

I have a huge senseof respect for him now.

And on a minor note, the fact he is celibate and searching for 'The One' really is a welcome change from the typical 'boof-headed, treating women like dirt' stereotypical view of footy players these days.

Exactly mate. Any decent Prop does it. Hell, even Saint Webcke has done it before. It's just a natural self preservation instinct, and like I was saying to someone the other day it's no different then if a player was to lead in with his Hip.

I doubt any of them do it on purpose. I sure don't. It just happens and I never even knew I did it until one of my mates pointed it out.

i hope he goes around again, with us of course. Not to hot on the idea of getting bailey. Time will tell. The man has been a champion player, longer termer. Many will remember his days at st george, especially when les davidson lined him up a treat. But his serve to the sharks has been awesome.

Ah, another voice of reason.

Can you explain it to Willow for us? He seems to think Stevo is as bad as John Hopoate...

I'm afraid I don't know who or what Fluffy is...

But yeh - Stevo's a legend.

It's a shame he will miss a week. There was really nothing in it, I thought.

Yep, even Laurie "anti-Sharks" Daley said he thought there was nothing in it on Fox last night.
