Hurrell is no longer eligible for the kiwis regardless as he lives in Aus.Yep, Vatuvei and Lolohea wouldn't have made the Kiwis. Hurrell and Kata shouldn't ever be considered for the Kiwis anyway.

Can you explain this rule? I don't understand. Is it because he wasn't born in NZ?Hurrell is no longer eligible for the kiwis regardless as he lives in Aus.
His immediate family.I know some of his whanau pretty well... they very much consider themselves kiwi...
I don’t know who you’ve been talking to...
And which National Rugby teams did they play for? I will give you a hint.. it was only ever one... do try and keep up.To those saying that RU has much more stringent rules and would never debase the international game, Lesley Vainakolo, Shontayne Hape, Henry Paul and Denny Solomona say hi.
So.. to summarise. Rugby has a one country for life rule... now. But they didn't always, e.g Stehpen Bachop in the 90's. And that one country is only for rugby union, not other forms of rugby. Got it.And which National Rugby teams did they play for? I will give you a hint.. it was only ever one... do try and keep up.

That's right, and since the original question was which sports allow the same country switching that League does, Rugby is not one of them.So.. to summarise. Cheers mate.http://www.rlwc2017.com/eligibility
In order for a player to qualify under residency, the said player must have held their primary residence for the preceding 60 months in that country.
Hurrell was born in Tonga. To play for the Kiwis he has to live there continuously for 5 years before selection. He's broken his continuous residency in NZ by moving to Australia to play for the Titans.
Rugby union. And im sure their are other sports that do this.
If plans were actually in place they would know who's available in advance. Tonga will be able to build off this. Kiwis are paying for their lack of professionalism and complacency.
Why?
Of course all countries would have plans in place but the problem is no country knows exactly what players will be available for them. NZ would have had Taumalolo as huge parts of there plans untill he opted for Tonga the day before there squad was announced. Fiji would have hoped to have RCG in there forwards only to have him available for them, then taken away in the space of two days. This is common for all the second tier countries and now the first tier aswell.
I wish them all well as they are working within the rules of the game but imo opinion nations swapping is rubbish
That is so simple to answer, I will leave it up to you to work it out.

They are supposedly professional organisations. The fact that NZRL didn't know Taumololo was going to jump ship the day before is an indication on the quality of the NZRL not the rules. Baffling.
