IMO they signed the wrong man.

I would have signed Kinga over Robbo as I think Kinga has provided the spark we need. If push came to shove, I would actually put Kingston ahead of Keating as our #1 hooker.

mmmm ... i'd agree with that also

but then kinga had a nasty cap issue that can't be resolved

We need a backup halfback, we don't need a backup hooker with Mitchell coming through. Re-Signing Robson was the sensible decision.

That's hard to argue.

Hookers: Matt Keating, Anthony Mitchell.
Possible Covers: KK

Halves: Mortz, KK, Feleti
Possible Covers: Hayne, Reddy

Both positions are vulnerable as they are young players who could also suffer from 2nd year syndrome.

I think both spots are light in numbers.

I agree with you in part but we actually need backup in both positions. Robson was the more sensible choice because he can play hooker better than Kingston can play halfback

We need an experienced backup not an untried option. Mitchell is still untried in the big league and if the choice between Kingston and Mitchell were there, I'd take Kingston with no hesitation.

You are correct to a point. But I'm not a fan of weakening one position to strengthen another. And that's what will happen if Mateo, Hayne, or Reddy are used in the halves. It's a makeshift option and should only be exercised in emergencies. Morts, KK, and Robson are the 3 that should be fighting for first grade spots. We've got young Humble who may come good but it yet to taste first grade. It'd be handy with Kevo, but Mitchell has played 2 years in the U20's now so might step up quicker then we think.

Ilike Kinga, and also believe he may be a better 9 than MK.

But I think 7 is where we are definitely lacking depth. KK in his very limited opportunities at 7 in firsts was a long way from where he needs to be (not that I am ruling him out because of that). Mortimer has played mostly 6, although the development of his kicking game in a short time this year suggests to me he can make the transition. Outside of those 2 there is no real option. On what Robson showed the second half of this year he was a priority signing and will start there next year without a shadow of a doubt.

At 6 the options are Mortimer, Feleti and KK who have all proven their ability in the position at first grade, plus the signing of Humble.

Kris Keating, Mitchell ,Robson or Mortimer could all play 9 or 14 if required, and likely do a good job.

Really, the resigning of Kingston would depend on releasing one of MK or Mitchell, not signing Robbo. And much as like Kinga, you can understand the retention of the other two.

I'm a bit of a Kinga fan too. He does things faster and crisper than MK IMHO. But haven't seen him start so that's something I can't compare him with to MK.

He's a bit more like DREW.

I really doubt Mortimer will be 14. He'll sign with the dogs real fast if that happened. He has certainly leap frogged KK at this point in time.

Matt Keating has just finished his second season as the top hooker. The thing is with experience you can't buy it, lean it, or coach it. You can only GET IT.
Have faith, Matt Keating will develop into a good player now he has experience. He goes OK. So does Robbo. Both are TOUGH enough to claim first grade spots..
