Jennings Debut Rumor

To add to the rumours, is Craig Gower under an injury cloud for tommorrow night.

While I'm led to believe officials denied it, I thought Gowie appeared to injure himself, in his rib area, in the first tackle of the game against the Sharks.

I don't know whether anything was said on the TV coverage of the game but straight after he went out to the wing and he appeared to receive some treatment from trainers?

From where I viewed the game my view was obscured but I was convinced he was definintely experiencing discomfort at the very least and I said as much to Fibroman at the time.

I don't know what sort of reshuffle could accomodate bringing Jennings into the side if Gowie is ruled out other than Luke Lewis coming into 5/8? Surely, Elliot would not contemplate Peter Wallace as starting half?

If Gower was ruled out, surely Firman would be elevated, with no other changes?

You would certainly assume so.

I don't believe the supposed rumour about Jennings but I do believe Gowie was inconvenienced by something arising from his first tackle of the game on Saturday night. I know what I saw and it would surely explain his off colour performance thereafter. He was off definitely off his game.

He prefers number 3 (left centre) the jersey which Girdler made his own for so long. Hopefully Jennings can do the same and be our new "Girds", because we have certainly lacked in that area since his retirement.
The number 3 is right centre these days which is also Jennings preferred side. It's the side he played in last years flegg grand final.

Girds made the Number 3 his own so much so that when they changed the numbers for left and right Girds still wore the No.3. ;-)

Although I always liked the way Girds played as centre in the latter years, you would find him randomly throughout the game on either side on attack.

I made mention to an injured Gowie when I read Elliotts match report. It concerned me that Elliott believed Gower was alright when he told him so at half time. There wouldnt be too many of us who didnt know that Gower pushes the pain barrirer more than anyone could imagine.

Can someone tell me if the *18th* man is not used, then does that mean that player does NOT PLAY AT ALL that week?

Cory Patterson for the Knights was named as 18th man last week and he didn't play PL. I asked him about this after the game and he said they can play if your named as 18th but don't play FG the reason he didn't play PL was that it was a short turn-around.

Hmm. Thanks for that. It must suck to be named as the 18th man and then not play because of a "short turnaround".

I think it is extremely unfair to the players.

I'm there to watch my team play and i'll see Jennings play regardless of if it's in PL or FG.

First home game of the season. Against one of the top teams. Can't f*cking wait.

Fans should not expect miracles from young Jennings when he finally makes his debut.

Like all our outside backs we need the forward to win the battle upfront to allow the playmakers to create opportunities for the outside backs.

I really feel sorry for Luke Rooney who has been singled out for unwarranted criticism in the last season or so.

In the last season or two how many opportunities have we really created for our outside backs. If the truth be known you could probably count them on one hand.

Our outside backs, Michael Jennings included, cannot win games or score tries unless the platform is laid by our forwards and Gowie is at his best.

Hmm finding it strange that Rob isnt denying the rumour on PI.

Nothing to deny.

It's common practise amongst all clubs not to publicise they may have players who may be under an injury cloud unless it is obvious!

If there is a doubt about Youngquest or one of the other outside backs that player will be given to the morning of the match to prove his fitness.

We will find out in due course, and I am looking forward to seeing Jennings in first grade, but not this week.

Let's see the side who took on the Sharks have a chance to reedem themselves, Youngquest included. They deserve that much and deserve our full support.

PI is Panthers Interactive yes. Although, i still find it hard to believe you, Penrith really havent been the team in the past to have shock selections.
