what a f**king joke. both players blamed there behaviour on alcohol and the punishment Melbourne handed down is laughable.

Maybe booze is the bigger problem than the coke?

To quote the wise Homer J Simpson: "beer: the cause of and solution to all of life's problems."

Of course its a cop out. But its obviously somewhat more acceptable to get shitfaced and do coke than it is to just make a decision to do coke. They didn't do anything else wrong after coke, in fact according to you they rocked up to their job bright and early Sunday. So the perfectly legal, totally socially acceptable substance caused more issues than the one that'll probably end or damage some careers in the coming weeks.

They got brands and a high profile, highly paid job to protect. Minimise the damage. More people can relate (will admit) to getting drunk and being dumb than to feeling like a bit of charlie after a hard day.

You can't deny there is a clear deflection from cocaine to alcohol. Cocaine is not mentioned once from what I recall yet that is what the whole shebang centres around, all he talks about is getting drunk and the effects that had.

Proctor Statement said:
I have asked Graham (Annesley) to say how extremely embarrassed and sorry I am for the damage I’ve done to the game and my personal reputation since Friday night’s Test match in Canberra.

After the game we went back to the New Zealand team hotel and had a late dinner. After the dinner we went to a local club to have a few drinks. The rest of the night is a bit of a blur as I obviously had too much to drink before the incident that has caused all the trouble happened much later in the night.

Although I can’t remember exactly what happened, I don’t deny it.

I am devastated by the whole thing and can’t apologise enough to my Kiwi team mates, the NRL, the Titans, and all fans of the game.

I’ve never been in this sort of trouble in my career, I have never failed a drug test, and I’m so sorry I’ve let everyone down by losing control of my personal decisions by drinking too much alcohol.

I have a wife and young family, and taking drugs is not something I support or encourage because I am very aware of the damage it can do.

Even though I have to appear before the Board later in the week, I’ve already decided to stand-down as club co-captain, and also stand-down from playing, until the Board makes a final decision.

I accept that there will be further punishment from my club and the NRL, and I just want to put this all behind me as quickly as possible and prove I can make it up to everyone.

He never once blames being a flatout dickhead for his actions, but points the finger at grog while tip toeing around drugs. Reminds us he's never failed a test and doesn't 'support or encourage' drug use.

Very carefully chosen words and almost all entirely bullshit. "I don't support or encourage drug use but if you're racking up count me in, bro! ,.. oh beer made me do it."

The only thing he apologiesed for is drinking too much.

Peptides? What peptides?

Oh the stuff no one knows what the stuff was. Something about horses wasn't it?

Thank f**k it wasn't cows blood or some shit like that.

Bloody Footy clubs, trying to be bronco's or Cows.
Who could actually say what peptides are and what they do without looking on the net - if they haven't already done so.

Where are ASADA in all of this? Kicked up a massive stink around 'the darkest day' with zero evidence - no failed tests, no videos of people taking anything, but caused the ultimate shit storm...
Here we have concrete evidence and an admission of illicit drug usage, yet we have silence.
They should be in tested the three players - and a positive ASADA test during competition is a mandatory 2 year ban.
Surely they'd be more interested in a cast iron case like this....?? And surely if the NRL were serious about cleaning up the game, they'd be pushing for ASADA involvement... they would if it didn't involve certain favoured clubs...
